[edit] Challenges to the integrity of Wikipedia
Wikipedia aspires to be a respected encyclopedia. Unfortunately, Wikipedia's success has created an obstacle to this aspiration: the prominence of Wikipedia has made it an attractive target for those promoting fringe views, such as pseudoscience, quackery, and conspiracy theories. Certain aspects of Wikipedia and its culture make it overly difficult to respond to these attempts to manipulate the project for questionable ends.
Here we describe some of the challenges to Wikipedia's integrity as a reference work that arise from the vigorous promotion of fringe views, and offer suggestions as to how the community can meet these challenges.

[edit] Community Problems
- Disruptive or tendentious editors often are given repeated "last chances" in hopes that they will reform. Though well-intended, this ignores the effect that these persons have on constructive editors. The community has neglected to weigh the potential benefits of reforming an editor with a history of disruption against the cost to constructive editors who abide by community norms.
