[edit] History
The beginnings of Raymont Lodge date back to 1904 when Drysliwyn, the old building at the centre of Raymont's grounds, was originally built for William Davies and his family. A woman by the name of Mrs E. Raymont left a left a generous bequest in 1947 to the church which gave it the finances to buy Drysliwyn and its surrounds and formally named it Raymont Lodge in her honour. It was not until 1977 that the college became co-ed after Primmer, a nearby men's boarding house was closed.
[edit] Facilities
A Dining hall is located in the Uniting Church centre building where students dine in air conditioning; outside of dining times it is used as a quiet study area.
A Pool is available to residents to use all year round between the hours of 7am to 9pm.
A bike locker underneath Alcorn lodge can be used by students on request.
There is a gym also underneath Alcorn lodge that is available to residents however the equipment in this room is extremely limited and can be unsafe.
2 sound proofed rooms underneath Alcorn lodge are often used. One of these rooms is home to a piano.
A wide-screen LCD TV with Foxtel is located in Drysliwyn along with a pool table and a couple of lounges. Each unit of 7 - 9 people has toilet and shower facilities, a TV, ironing board and iron, fridge/freezer, microwave and sink.
Internet is provided to each room. Residents log on via an account where they receive 1 GB of downloads per month. Excess is charged at $20/GB
[edit] Sports
Raymont does not actively provide or promote any sporting teams for the residents to join. Instead it is left to the Residents Association or Res, which with limited success is able to find the occasional sporting team it is able to field.
[edit] Social Events
The students of Raymont Lodge are invited to 4 college wide social events throughout the year. These are in order of date: Orientation Weekend, Formal Dinner, Christmas in July and Gala. The Residential Assistants whom are allotted a set group of people or units throughout the year are encouraged to organise activities but this is a rare occurrence.
