[edit] Appearances
In his first appearance, in the episode "It's A Living", Raymond is the guest in a talk show hosted by Michael Palin. He is presented as "one of England's leading skin-specialists", but when the interviewer refers to him by his name, he proudly proclaims that his name "is spelled Raymond Luxury-Yacht, but it's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove". Following this the interviewer tells Raymond that he won't continue the interview, because he thinks that Raymond is a "very silly man". Raymond accuses the interviewer of anti-semitism (as a reference to the stereotypical image of the large nosed-Jew), but the interviewer defends himself by pointing out that Raymond's nose is made of polystyrene. Raymond's intentions are made clear when he says "I want to be on television!", to which the interviewer answers "You can't", and tells him that he can collect his nose at the reception.
Raymond next appears in "How To Recognize Different Parts of the Body", where his large plastic nose (as a distinct part of the body) is the reason for his return. This time he enters the office of a cosmetic surgeon, played by John Cleese. Raymond tells the surgeon, a little embarrassed, that he wants some plastic surgery performed on him. After some discussion it becomes clear that he's not satisfied with his large nose, which the surgeon refers to as "a startler". When the surgeon examines the nose he realizes that it's a fake. Raymond says that he'd still like the operation, to which the surgeon responds "You've already had the operation, you strange person". Raymond desperately asks for the operation, and the surgeon accepts on one condition - that they will go on a camping-holiday together. Upon hearing this Raymond looks straight into the camera, and cries happily "He asked me! He asked me!". The next shot shows Raymond and the surgeon jumping around in a forest, in slow-motion, holding hands.
