Raymond Kendall, QPM (October 5, 1933-) is a British law enforcement officer and former Interpol Secretary-General.

[edit] Biography

In 1951 he went for his military service in Her Majesty's Royal Air Force mostly in Malaya (now Malaysia) and studies at Oxford University - Exeter College qualified with an honours degree in modern languages - Master of Arts.

In 1956 Raymond E. Kendall started in Uganda his police career as officer in charge of crime. He joined the Metropolitan Police New Scotland Yard in 1962, spending most of his service in Special Branch and reached the London rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner.

In 1971, he joined ICPO-Interpol Headquarters in Saint-Cloud, France and became Assistant Director of Drugs, four years later he was promoted to Director. From 1985 until his retirement in 2001 Raymond E. Kendall served three times as Secretary General of the ICPO-Interpol. He was elected in October 1985 at the 54th session of the General Assembly, Washington, D.C., U.S.A., re-elected in October 1990 at the 59th session of the General Assembly, Ottawa, Canada as well as in October 1995 at the 64th session of the General Assembly, Beijing, China. He is now Honorary Secretary General.
