Ray Vinson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ray Vinson is founder and CEO of Vinson Mortgage Group [USA]. He started his career with $7,000 that his grandmother gave to him and within a few years he grew that company to an annual loan volume of $3 billion. Ray Vinson has been recognized by St. Louis Commerce Magazine as Entrepreneur of the Year. He has received several marketing awards.

Following repeated arrests for driving under the influence, reports of sexual harassment at the office, and a 2001 incident in which Vinson was cited for lewd behavior in a Las Vegas, Nevada, casino, he was separated from the company and from his wife.[citation needed]

In 2004, Mrs. Vinson filed for divorce. A lengthy and bitter battle for control of American Equity Mortgage followed. The divorce proceedings attracted considerable media attention.[citation needed]

In 2006, the court awarded Mrs. Vinson complete control of the American Equity Mortgage. Later in 2006, Vinson stated his own company, Vinson Mortgage Group. Ironically, his new venture began just as the mortgage industry suffered one of its worst slumps.
