Ray Luther "Dad" Hale

Ray Luther "Dad" Hale (b. 18 February 1880, Allegan, Michigan - d. 1 February 1946) was a pitcher for the Boston Beaneaters major league baseball team.

Hale signed on as a pitcher with the Beaneaters on April 21, 1902.

There are conflicting tallies on Hale's stats:

  • Hale played only one season, beginning with the Boston team (8 games) and ending with the Baltimore Orioles (3 games).[1]
  • Hale played 6 seasons with Boston, spending some time in the minors (AAA & AA) in 1906 and 1907, as well as the entire 1908 season.

He was picked up by Cincinnati in late 1908, but was only kept for a month before being released, marking the end of his career.[2]

Hale died, aged 65 was interred in Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan, Michigan.
