[edit] History

Lavender has changed his stage name several times in a very short period of time, first being Earl Ray, then L.A Ray, then RayBlack and now finally Ray-L. He is mostly known for his song "Doing Doing" featuring Akon. Other tracks that he has done are "Hush", "Checkin' My Phone" and "Deez Nutz". He wrote a song for his label mate Chilli's upcoming album titled "No Rings on These Fingers" but Chilli never recorded it.

The release date of his debut album, titled X-Rayted, has been repeatedly pushed back, initially set for release in September 2007. However, according to a November 2007 interview with middlechildpromotions.com, Ray himself stated that although no specific release date has been set, he expects the album will be available sometime in February 2008.

[edit] Style

Ray-L has a lot of similarities to his mentor Akon and label-mate T-Pain. Lavender's supposed first single, "My Girl Gotta Girlfriend" was realeased on iTunes July 2007. The content of Lavender's songs are also very similar to that of T-Pain. They generally follow a slow-moving, catchy beat with trademarked phrases. His lyrics are generally aimed at women.
