Raw Audio
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Raw Audio is an Internet TV & Radio station playing Brisbane music and Australian music. Raw Audio began operations in January 2006 and is now the main place to find Brisbane bands, and watch Brisbane gigs.
The station utilises the latest hi-technology to broadcast music:
- on-demand Internet TV
- on-demand Internet Radio
- live video webcasting
- podcasting
The internet TV station initially used locally hosted streaming video, but with the introduction of the services provided by some larger websites such as Google Video and YouTube this was amended to allow the video to be hosted with these services.
In June 2006, Raw Audio began The Sunday Sofa Sessions, a weekly live webcast of Brisbane musicians and overseas independent musicians.
The station was conceived by Brisbane musician, Thomas Perkins, who wanted to provide a means for people in Brisbane to easily listen to the music being played in Brisbane, which in mid-2005 was impossible to find. Technology and websites have progressed at such a rate now that Raw Audio is only one of a number of websites and stations making local music more accessible.
In June 2006, Raw Audio launched The Musopedia, an online encyclopaedia which utilises the Mediawiki engine.
