[edit] American
Welcome to Wikipedia. We encourage everyone to participate, but Wikipedia is not a soapbox, and edits need to reflect a neutral point of view. Cheers, WilyD 21:50, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a democracy, please don't mistake it for one. Consensus is a nebulous concept, but it is how we run things. That said, if you have concerns, try making your case on the talk page. I'll warn you ahead of time that you have very little chance of succeeding here, because you're trying to include article-style information on a disambiguation page, which just isn't the right place for it. The issue you're trying to address is discussed to death in a few articles, but where you're looking to include it is just the wrong place. On a more personal note, that the edit you keep trying to introduce strongly supports a POV, rather than addressing the issue neutrally is problematic. The additional issue that it's at odds with every reliable souce on the subject is even more problematic. WilyD 23:09, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] World's largest cities
This article is already sourced, every entry in it builds on the report of the UN. In order for a list of this kind to be meaningful, the same source has to be used for every city. A list where individual sources are used is not only less reliable, it has also been shown already that it leads to chauvinism when users try to find sources enlarging their own city, much as you are doing now when you are trying it with Guadalajara. This matter has already been discussed for quite some time and it was agreed that it's necessary to have a single, neutral source for all the entries. That is what we have now, and the introduction to the article clearly states that it builds on the UN data. Individual sources for individual cities will be erased. JdeJ 07:57, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability of Descartes a Kant
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Descartes a Kant, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Descartes a Kant seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Descartes a Kant, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Why your bias against Monterrey??
First of all Robert, I would like to tell you I dont have absolutely nothing against your city, Guadalajara, but without hesitation, you have a incredibly bias against my city, Monterrey !! Why do you always try to hide all the facts that puts Monterrey ABOVE Guadalajara? Why so this bias against all the regiomontane culture??? Try to understand Monterrey has OVERPASS Guadalajara in almost all aspects, do not get blind against that. Monterrey is the industrial center of Mexico, the most important financial center (Until I know, you dont have an own bank in you city, as we with Banorte), the most educated city in Mexico and a very long etc. Even Guadalajara is most important by the cultural side, this is not a really sense if we try to determinate which city is most important for the whole country. Finally I found this endless discussion is futile, so it represent a mutual lack of respect for the people of both cities. I invite you to have a friendly (I am not kidding) dialogue with me, here's my email if you want to discuss this issue
