Ravindra Patil

Ravindra Patil (Ravindra Bhaiya Patil) (Marathi: रविन्द्र प्रल्हाद्राव पाटील) (born March 13, 1955) is a politician from Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India.

He is known to be a very staunch supporter of The Maratha strongman Sharadraoji Pawar, he has held various offices in Government as well as Co-operative establishments. Currently he is the President of The Nationalist Congress Party for Jalgaon District, Maharashtra. He is also known to be close to Hon. Pratibha Tai Patil.

As the President of Nationalist Congress Party for Jalgaon District. Also, he has successfully served, twice as the President of Zilla Parishad, Has been the Chairman and Director of various Co-operative Marketing Federations Both regionally as well as Nationally.

Although a Lawyer by profession, he always wanted to take politics as his career. He entered Politics in the early 1980's. As he belonged to a politically well established family, he didn't have to struggle much to get himself noted in public. He was Elected as the Director of the Jalgaon District Co-operative Bank and soon became vice-president of the bank, However he was then elected as the Member and President of Jalgaon Zilla Parishad in 1991-92. His career took a dip when in 1995 Jalgaon MLA Shri. Suresh Dada Jain, walked out of the party to join hands with Shiv Sena. Ravindra Patil, being a staunch Pawar supporter, did not go with Jain despite of being close to Jain. Jain however made sure that Patil would not continue as the President of Zilla Parishad. An Anti-Trust motion was passed and Patil Lost by a few votes.

Sharad Pawar then Pitched in Patil against Suresh dada in the assembly by-elections. Not being his constituency, it was sure defeat for him and Patil lost, but managed to get 47000 votes against Jain.

Patil was again elected as the President of Zilla Parishad in 1998.

He has also served as the director and president various co-operative federations both regionally and nationally.

He lost another legislative election against Eknath Khadse in 2004 although this time by a very small margin.

Patil was appointed as the President of the Nationalist Congress Party for Jalgaon District despite of Jain's stern opposition to him.
