[edit] Production history

Raven-Symoné began work on her fourth studio album in the Summer of 2006.

In early 2006, Raven was interviewed by Life Story magazine and she stated "...I will be recording my next solo CD after I get back from Spain."

On April 19, 2007, singer Mario was interviewed by Billboard Magazine and he stated that he and his production team Knightwritaz [2], had recently worked with Raven.

In May 2007, two tracks expected to be on Raven-Symoné's fourth studio album titled "Got It Girl" and "Green" leaked onto the music website imeem.com. [3] [4]. It wasn't until November 2007 that Hollywood Records officially put out a statement regarding the two leaked tracks and Raven's album status by stating "....Raven-Symoné's new album will be out next spring. And it will not feature "Got It Girl" nor "Green". But in March 2008, Hollywood Records eventually decided to include the two leaked tracks on the album.

In November 2007, Hollywood Records released a statement that Raven-Symoné's new album could possibly be self-titled and that promotion for the album would start in January 2008, and be out by April, 2008.

In November 2007, Raven gave an interview to the Press, when ask "Song currently playing in my iPod?", she stated "My song 'In The Pictures'"[5]

On January 29, 2008, Raven's official site "Raven-Symone Presents" announced that her self-titled fourth studio album, Raven-Symoné will be released on April 29, 2008. It also stated that on January 30, 2008, she would be shooting a video for her new single "Double Dutch Bus" which is to be featured in her new movie College Road Trip.[6] 3 days later Hollywood Records released information stating her new album would also feature "In the Pictures".

On February 6, 2008, Hollywood Records announced via MySpace "Raven-Symoné will be releasing her fourth coming self-titled album on April 22nd! (Before it was pushed back a week later.) The new album will feature "In The Pictures", which will debut on MySpace in March 2008!"

In the March 2008, Raven told Tiger Beat magazine "The music has the same type of message as my last album-- it's very self-confident and respectful. But there's more R&B than last time. There's this one very snap-your-fingers, do-your-step hood anthem called "Girl Get It." I've been Disney for so long, I don't know if I can do this song." The producers were like, "But you're from Atlanta!"

In March 2008, Raven told Blackfilm.com Raven-Symoné is a party album. There are only 2 slow songs, but it’s really energetic. It’s something you can put on when you are cleaning the house or you are about to come out to a party, or you need to wake up to go to school. It will be fun to perform. I go on tour soon".

In March 2008 Raven's official site Raven-Symoné Presents announced that Raven's album would be pushed back a week to April 29, due to her packed promotional schedule of her movie College Road Trip.

Raven's official MySpace released a new song off of Raven-Symoné per week until the album's release. The first was "Green", followed by "Double Dutch Bus" and "In the Pictures"[7], then followed by "Girl Get It".

Raven-Symoné collaborated with Sean Garrett for the first time, and he is featured on two songs on the album - "What Are You Gonna Do?" and "Stupid".

[edit] Promotion

With almost little to no promotion, aside from the unofficial first single "Double Dutch Bus" (which was actually a promo single from Raven's film College Road Trip), the album debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at #159, selling 4,400 copies[8]. The second single is slated to be "Anti-Love Song", as rumored to be confirmed by Raven on radio station 97.1ZHT on June 5th, 2008.

[edit] Raven-Symoné Live Tour

Raven-Symoné was also planning to headline Raven-Symoné Live Tour to promote the album starting April 26, 2008, with special guests Mitchel Musso from Disney Channel's Hannah Montana, also B5, and Clique Girlz. The tour was postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances". It has been confirmed that the tour is back on and will kick off late this summer.[9]
