Rave Wireless is the only company to leverage the mobile phone to improve the safety of both individuals and groups at colleges and universities. Rave Guardian™ is a unique personal safety tool that lets students use their mobile phones to instantly share location and critical safety information with campus police, whenever and wherever they're in distress. Rave Alert™ provides campus administrators with an easy and reliable way to send multi-modal broadcast text, email and/or voice alerts to the entire campus or select groups. Institutions using Rave Wireless applications are recognized as leaders in campus safety. For example, Rave client Montclair State University (NJ) won the coveted Clery Award for Campus Safety in 2006 in honor of its early adoption of Rave Guardian.
Rave builds upon its strong foundation in mobile phone safety products to deliver Rave Campus™, a complete suite of academic, safety, community and social applications specially designed for students' mobile phones. Rave Campus also allows college and university administrators to add their own mobile applications for a truly customized user experience. The Rave Campus applications are often delivered in conjunction with devices and plans from major mobile carriers such as AT&T and Sprint. As a result, Rave is also pioneering the delivery of time-sensitive academic, community and social information to students' mobile devices in anticipation of growing campus mobility needs.
Rave Wireless services colleges and universities nationwide, including a range of institutions public and private, large and small.
Founded in 2004, Rave Wireless is headquartered in New York, NY. Investors include Bain Capital Ventures, Sigma Partners, and RRE Ventures.
[edit] Clery Award
Rave client Montclair State University was awaded the 2006 Clery Award for its implementation of Rave Guardian. The Clery Award is given annually by Security On Campus, Inc., a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to ensuring safe campuses for college and university students. It recognizes universities and individuals who take extra efforts to protect college students. Security on Campus Inc. is one of the organizations that lobbied lawmakers for what is now the Clery Act.
The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses. The law is named for Jeanne Clery, a 19-year-old Lehigh University freshman who was raped and murdered in her campus residence hall in 1986.
When awarding the Clery Award to Montclair State University, Security on Campus, Inc. President Connie Clery stated: "Montclair State is the first educational institution in the country to pilot an exciting new mobile phone technology that turns students' cell phones into a personal alarm device connecting them to a caring, sworn police force."
