Rave Breaks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rave Breaks is a genre aiming to incorporate and combine elements of old skool rave music with modern breaks. The music is largely composed of a simple breakbeat, intense bassline sounds, melodic piano lines, staccato synthesizer riffs, and vocals. Tempo ranges between 135-145 BPM

The first Rave Breaks tracks were updates of Old Skool anthems as veteran DJs like Slipmatt were growing tired of playing the same old skool tracks every week. But since Slipmatt and Billy Bunter started showcasing Rave Breaks on Ministry of Sound's Helter Skelter compilations the number of artists producing tracks has increased with more original productions and remixes of modern tracks balancing the old skool anthem remixes. Artists who have produced Rave Breaks tracks include CLSM (as Peacemaker), Sy & Unknown, Al Storm, Ratpack, DJ Twista and Junki Munki.

Rave Breaks is unified with Hardcore Breaks and J-tek under the Nu-Rave banner.
