[edit] Licensing
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published in the United States between 1923 and 1963, but copyright was not renewed with the US Copyright Office within 28 years of the date of publication, which causes the work to irrevocably fall into the public domain. This should apply worldwide. See Copyright. |
[edit] Public domain explanation
- A search of U.S. copyright renewal records both generally and with a specific focus on 1990 and 1991 reveals the then corporate heir to the corporate author of the work--Metromedia/Orion Pictures, via Filmways--renewed no copyrights to this poster or any collection of posters or any collection of material that might encompass this poster as would have been required to maintain copyright protection, if any.
- There is no evidence that the present corporate heir to the corporate authors of the work--Sony Pictures, via MGM, via Metromedia/Orion--claims copyright on the image.
