Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). [edit] Image:DSC01122.JPG listed for deletion
- Go to Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion#June_20 and find the listing for your image. The reason for deletion says OR which is an abbreviation for Orphan. Wikipedia policy at WP:ISNOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_mirror_or_a_repository_of_links.2C_images.2C_or_media_files states that images must be presented in an encyclopedic context, which an orphan image is not. So you need to add the image to a Wikipedia article for it to remain on Wikipedia. An alternative is to upload the image to Wikimedia Commons. If you upload to the Commons, I recommend using a more descriptive name. Hope this helps -Nv8200p talk 23:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Redirection
When you type your search word into the search box, click Go and it takes you to a search reply page. It will say at the top "No page with that title exists.", then a line that says "You can create this article or request it. Click on the link "create this article". It takes you to a page with the Search entry as the article title. In the edit box type #REDIRECT [[article name]] and Save page. That will do it. I set up embden to redirect to Embden, Maine already. Click -> embden and see. Under the article title where it says Redirected from Embden. Click there to take you to the redirecting page and you can see what I did. -Nv8200p talk 01:06, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Johann Pachelbel
Hello! Please do not add that particular image to the article. We've had a discussion about it at the article's talk page; there is no proof that the image is of Pachelbel (the date says 1748, while he died in 1706; the text goes "Johann Christoph Pachelbel" while he didn't have a middle name, etc.). By all means do re-add it if you can cite a source that lists this particular image as an authentic portrait; otherwise please don't :) Jashiin 08:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use
Please do not add copyrighted images to articles without providing a detailed fair-use rationale for their use and without following the license. This is a copyright violation. --Yamla 03:25, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:CVU status
The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you!
