From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have a talent for seeking out new ways that Wikipedia and can improved and bringing them to fruition. But I'm only one man. I've decided to post a list here of neglected aspects of Wikipedia that can always use more contributors:

  • My Bugzilla requests: Useful what-links-here on Commons Recursive checkuser Blocking and tagging from the checkuser interface. Any programmers out there interested in fulfilling some much-needed feature requests?
  • WikiProject Free music - For a very long time, I was the only person on Wikipedia uploading full-length music. I got the codec defined, created the first music template, and uploaded most of our full-length music. I created this wikiproject to help get others involved in this work. We're always looking for people to pitch in.
  • The Dispatches - A weekly signpost feature to describe goings-on related to the featured article/list/picture/portal/sound processes, and give credit to users doing great editing work. New writers are always welcome.
  • The Wikimedia Photo Submission Service - my latest project. To an outsider, contributing pictures to Wikipedia is hard - there are many steps involved, and it is not well documented. For pictures that we really need and have trouble getting - good quality pictures of living people - I decided that a lower bar was in order. I pushed through the creation of OTRS queues, created a contact page (and got it translated into other languages). For a long time, I handled all submissions myself. Now it's opened to others, and I always have an ear open for someone else who wants to participate.
