Raudat Tahera is the Mosulen shrine of celebrated Dr. Syedna Taher Saifuddin, 51st Dāˤī al-Mutlaq of Dawoodi Bohras around the world who headed the community from 1915 to 1965. He was succeeded by his son, the 52nd Dāˤī al-Mutlaq Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.

The white-marble shrine is located in the midst of Bhindi Bazaar, a crowded Mumbai street but as soon as one enters the main gates of the shrine complex, an un-imaginable peaceful place comes in view and without visiting, it is hard to imaging that such a clean environment is maintained in the center of such congestion.

Raudat Tahera’s location is not what is has special in it. It is the only building in the world in which whole of Quran (Muslim holy book) is written on its inner walls with gold and decorated with rubies and diamonds at places of importance.

It was constructed by His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, son and successor of Syedna Taher Saifuddin while its architect was the famous Yahya Mechant, who has also designed the Tomb of Jinnah, Founder of Pakistan, located in Karachi.

The shrine is visited daily by hundreds of thousands of Dawoodi Bohra devotees not only from Mumbai and other Indian countries but also from pilgrims coming from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African countries and as far as Far East, Europe and North America.

Various Indian Head of States and other foreign dignitaries have also visited Raudat Tahera and paid their respects. Their amusement can be calculated by their reactions and comments in visitor’s book. Many Indian leaders showed their proudness in India having such kind of magnificent monument that is one of its kind in the World.
