[edit] Thanks for joining Wikipedia, Rattis irrittis

Hi, I'm Xiong Chiamiov, another user at Wikipedia. If you ever need some help, please drop a message on my talk page (User_talk:Xiong Chiamiov). If you're wondering how to edit a page, going to Wikipedia:How to edit a page may be useful. Below are some tips which many come in handy sometime:

  • When writing a comment or sending a message, adding ~~~~ on the end will add your signature, as well as the current time and date. Your signature can be changed by going to Special:Preferences, or by clicking "my preferences" in the top right.
  • If you want to test that you can really edit pages, you may wish to go to Wikipedia:Sandbox, and you can add whatever you want! However, please do not make edits to Wikipedia articles with the intention of ruining them, as such edits are considered to be Vandalism.

Remember, if you need help, there are loads of places you can get it:

Thanks again for coming to Wikipedia, and I look forward to seeing your contributions. And remember, Be bold in updating pages! -- Xiong Chiamiov :: contact :: 21:07, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Burpee turkey.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Burpee turkey.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:06, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jane the Dinosaur in Battle of Stillman's Run

Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with the page Battle of Stillman's Run on Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, welcome, and I hope that you will like Wikipedia. Carom 16:57, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

On a second look, I'm not entirely sure why you added the picture of Jane the Dinosaur, but thanks anyway for replacing it with an appropriate picture of the monument. Carom 17:01, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair enough, feel free to delete the warning, as it doesn't apply. Carom 14:48, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Summary

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Cocoaguycontribstalk 00:48, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Black Hawk War

Thanks for your work on the Black Hawk War. I am trying to expand and improve all related articles. Check out my collaboration page at User:IvoShandor/Black Hawk War. IvoShandor 23:10, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Do you have photos of the actual site of the Spafford Farm massacre or no? They would go great in the article if you do. IvoShandor 02:59, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
The Photographer's Barnstar
Bestowed to Rattis, for some great photos of hard to find locations related to the Black Hawk War. Also because I was out taking photos on New Years Day 2007 too, so I know what it is like. :) Thanks for the hard work. IvoShandor 21:44, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

P.S. Try to remember to sign all posts on talk pages with the four tildes mark up (~~~~), that way I don't have to search through the page history to find you and leave you awards such as above. Thanks again Rattis. IvoShandor 21:44, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

You're too cool. Apple River Fort too? That's awesome, thanks again. What else do you have, an archive of the Black Hawk War? Were you there in person? Haha. : )IvoShandor 21:54, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh btw, have you seen the articles? Not too shabby now. There are still some small issues that need to be worked out (the amount of historical discrepancies with this conflict are pretty voluminous) but overall we went from almost nothing on WikiPedia about the Black Hawk War to a decent series of articles on it. Always more work to do but we are getting there. IvoShandor 22:00, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More Black Hawk

I can't help but wonder what else you have as far as battle related photos, I bet we could use them all, are you familiar with Wikimedia Commons. Its a sister project of Wikipedia working to build a free use image resource, you could add all of your pictures there (if you wanted to do such a thing) and they can be used the same easy way in Wikipedia, most of the articles could be better illustrated and the photos we don't use in the articles can be put in a gallery on Commons and linked to the Wikipedia page using the template {{commons}}. Just a request, if you can't or don't want to comply don't worry about it, your help has been excellent. (Maybe a slightly better image of Apple River Fort, for instance) Eventually, I will be visiting more of the sites myself. IvoShandor 23:48, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, if you'd like, you can add your name in the participants section of my Black Hawk War collaboration page, to facilitate communication. Maybe one day we will become a full-fledged task force of WikiProject Military history. IvoShandor 23:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Nice to see you've joined up. I did a bit of cleanup work on Fort Defiance (Wisconsin), I moved one sentence to the talk page that needs clarification, if you could check it out that would be cool, or I will get to it in a few days, either way. IvoShandor 04:13, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wisconsin Heights Battlefield

I am working on the above article, do you have any modern-day pictures? I could use three or four. Thanks. IvoShandor 00:42, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fort Union (Wisconsin)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fort Union (Wisconsin), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM2558. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 12:48, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
