[edit] Page protection

Hello. I've removed the {{sprotect}} tag you placed on Dangerously in Love 2 because it is not sprotected. Only admins can apply protection - it's a simple technical fact. Requests for page protection are made at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection or by asking an administrator. Please don't add to protection templates to article which are not actually protected. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 06:24, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:DestinyFulfilled2.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:DestinyFulfilled2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Upgrade U

"Upgrade U" is not currently planned for release as a single, and performing wholesale reverts of other people's edits without sufficient explanation is unproductive. Please cite reliable sources for all information you add to articles; this includes claims that the song will be released as a single in the future, as Wikipedia is not a "crystal ball". Please do not remove references, because they're needed to make sure the information in the article is verifiable. In accordance with Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout#Headers_and_paragraphs, please do not insert section headers to create small sections, as "any sections and subsections that are very short will make the article look cluttered and inhibit the flow". May I ask how the version you reverted to is "more legible"? Please reply on Talk:Upgrade U. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 18:52, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I didn't mean for my message to sound like "hate speak", and I apologise if it did. I justed wanted to offer some advice about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and to invite you to discuss the matter. Extraordinary Machine 19:21, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Destiny's child-survivor(single).jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Destiny's child-survivor(single).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:47, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Farrahfranklin.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Farrahfranklin.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:47, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I've reverted your edit to B’Day Anthology Video Album. Having a gallery of copyrighted images violates our fair use policy. ShadowHalo 23:10, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
That's fine. Just make sure that when you upload copyrighted material, it's not decorative (it should be used to illustrate specific points in the text). ShadowHalo 23:18, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How to give citations

Citations should be given in the text where appropriate, on Talk pages where not. Putting them in edit summaries (though a step up from no sources or edit summary) isn't acceptable, as future editors and readers can't be expected to trawl through the article's Hostory looking for your edit.

Note, incidentally, that you reverted a number of corrections to the article as well as reverting to your text. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 16:44, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Possibly unfree Image:Wishingonastarbeyonceversion.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Wishingonastarbeyonceversion.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. Mel Etitis (Talk) 17:07, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
From what you say, this isn't a commercial single, but an advertising promotion. That would explain why it isn't mentioned in the places one would expect to find it — but is also a reason for us not to include it either. (Oh, I'm afraid that fair-use images can't be placed on User pages; I've had to remove it.) --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Beyoncé Knowles discography

As long as you explain your edits, give sources, and edit in line with the MoS and relevant WikiProject guidelines, there's no problem.

If you want to archive your page, incidentally, you need to cut and paste the contents to something like User talk:Ratizi1/Archive 1, placing a link to it at the top of this page. If you need help, just ask. Simply blanking the page is deprecated here. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:29, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyrighted text at B’Day Anthology Video Album

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to B’Day Anthology Video Album. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:B’Day Anthology Video Album with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:B’Day Anthology Video Album with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:B’Day Anthology Video Album saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ShadowHalo 21:27, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't see any change for the better in your uploaded screenshots since they mainly focus on Beyoncé's face and not on the style or a special scene in the video. - Noboyo

The "old" screenshots show more than Beyonce's faces at least. The sand-dance in "Deja Vu" or the appearances by Rowland, Willians and her sister Solange in "Get Me Bodied" are surely more notable than a simple expression. - Noboyo

[edit] Suga Mama

I have restored the Suga Mama article. Firstly, that a song wasn't given a full commercial single release does not preclude it from being given its own article — please read Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (music). You wrote, "theres alot of information here about the song and video themselves but no info on an actual single release." — why is it necessary for a song article to have information on a single release? It's not wise to edit under the notion that all songs released commercially are notable, or that all songs not released commercially aren't notable.

Secondly, when you believe a referenced and fairly large article should be merged and/or redirected to another large article, it is common practice to either propose a merge using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Template messages/Merging and splitting and discuss the issue with other editors on the talk page, or transfer and/or summarise the contents of the article to the one to which you are redirecting it. What you probably shouldn't do, though, is simply redirect a decently sized, reliably sourced article to another without transferring/summarising the contents somewhere, thus essentially deleting it. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:14 listenv2 0001.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:14 listenv2 0001.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit] Requesting your help for article improvement

Hello...

I found your name on the member's list for the Wikipedia:WikiProject R&B and Soul Music. Because of your interest in R&B and soul music, I'm writing to ask for your help with improving the James Brown article, which was nominated as a candidate for the Article Collaboration and Improvement Drive. The goal for this drive is to improve the article to featured status in time for the first anniversary of James Brown's death on December 25, 2007.

If you're interested and want to have your vote count in this effort, please visit Article Creation and Improvement Drive page for the James Brown article by August 27. A link to this page has also been provided on the James Brown talk page. At this time, although four votes have been recorded for improving the article, at least four votes are needed to promote the project. (The original request was for four votes, which has since been increased to a minimum of 8 votes.) You can get an idea of the improvements needed for the article by visiting the James Brown talk page to view the To-do list for the article that's located just below the Article Creation and Improvement Drive panel near the beginning of the page.

Many thanks for your help. Lwalt ♦ talk 11:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] True Star: A Private Performance

I have edited some on this page because it seems it was done hastily and the context was edited not in a good way. I've improved it anyway but please put some references because it was unreferenced since you made the page. Thanks. BritandBeyonce 09:12, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:31elg3HFGLSS500.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:31elg3HFGLSS500.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:24, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:What's It Gonna Be.JPG

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:What's It Gonna Be.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:16, 9 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 03:16, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:SME 0101 CVD 718087.70Q 200x200 72dpi RGB.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SME 0101 CVD 718087.70Q 200x200 72dpi RGB.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] New Image

Hi. I uploaded a new version of your image for some reasons:

  • The title of the image which is SME 0101 CVD 718087.70Q 200x200 72dpi RGB.jpg is long and wikipedia discourages that type of title because it's confusing.
  • The file extension of the image is JPG, but its quite fine, however, i uploaded new one with a PNG extension because it has a high quality type than the other one.

I tagged it as redundant. Hope you consider. By the way, the new image is this. Thanks. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 10:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Page moving

When changing the name of a page, please use the "move" button at the top of the screen rather than by copying-and-pasting the text of a page to a new name, as that creates a new page with hardly any edit history. I've fixed "The Beyoncé Experience: LIVE" to "The Beyoncé Experience: Live" by using the move feature. For more information, see WP:MOVE. Thanks! Acalamari 23:33, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, the appropriate and accurate one is The Beyoncé Experience LIVE. Kindly move it back. Thanks. --BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 00:57, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
