Ratey Chu

Ratey Chu is a river in Sikkim, that is the main source of water supply for the capital Gangtok. Ratey Chu emerges from the glacial fed lake Tamze at altitude 12,500 ft (3,800 m). Ratey Chu river is tapped at an altitude of 8,200 ft (2,500 m). From this Tapping Point or Water Supply Head Work (altitude 6800 ft.) water is transported to a distance of 17 km (11 mi) to Selep Water Treatment Plant site.
