[edit] User school template

Please stop your redoing of school templates to use {{user school}}. It was already overwhelmingly decided by consensus that the template was NOT a replacement for existing templates and shouldn't be used as such. If some want to use it as an alternative, fine, but do not go around replacing other school templates with it without clear consensus for each template. Collectonian (talk) 17:08, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I followed the debate, and as far as I can tell, the only thing decided was not to delete all the individual template pages and replace them by {{user school}}, making this template the only school-related userbox on Wikipedia and requiring all users to customize the one template on their user page. There was no debate about using this template in the school templates themselves. Refer to Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/School related user templates, the only debate I know on this issue where the topic is clearly deleting all school-related userboxes and requiring users throughout Wikipedia to use this one template on their user page, not using this template to extend the usability of school-related userboxes. I would strongly point to the third point in the debate by AWeenieMan as proving my point that what I am doing is not in violation of the overwhelming consensus. Running through and replacing all of the templates in this way is by passing the AfD and performin ga silent delete. It is highly inappropriate and completely violates the overwhelming consensus that the individual templates should not be deleted nor "forced" to be replaced with this template. Leave the school templates alone and allow them their individuality. That was the consensus. You're basically deleting by replacing, which is exactly what the AfD attempted to do. Its blatantly wrong and attempting to get around the obviously lack of desire to use this template by the many projects and editors using existing school templates. You had no consensus to do such a drastic, and frankly ugly, change. You didn't even bother asking anyone for input at all. Again, please do not start up such replacements again. Make the suggestion and get consensus on a one by one basis, or better yet, do what was decided in the AfD and let the people and projects who use and maintain the templates decide if they want to use {{user school}} instead. All your actions are going to do is likely have that template send to TfD to stop these actions from continuing. Collectonian (talk) 18:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
