Muhammad Rasul Jan is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malakand.
He was born in the village of Ningolai in Kabal subdivision of Swat district, Pakistan and studied chemistry at the University of Peshawar, obtaining an MPhil. He undertook higher studies in the University College Dublin in the Republic of Ireland. Returning to Pakistan in 1985, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Peshawar as Assistant Professor. In 1999 he was appointed as head of the Department of Environmental Sciences. He held a Fulbright Program fellowship at the University of New Mexico in 2003.
He joined University of Malakand as Vice Chancellor on 16 April 2008.
