Rasul Gamzatovich Gamzatov (Avar: Расул ХIамзатов; Russian: Расу́л Гамза́тович Гамза́тов) was probably the most famous poet writing in the Avar language. Among his poems was Zhuravli, which became a well-known Russian song.
