Rastriya Janamukti Party (National Emancipation Party) is a political party in Nepal. The party was formed in 1990 by the Janjati leader , M. S. Thapa Magar and Gore Bahadur Khapangi as the Nepal Rastriya Janamukti Morcha (Nepal National Janajati Liberation Front), following the Jana Andolan. The Front petitioned the constitutional committee, requesting a federal constitution.[2][3]
The party supported King Gyanendra's take-over in 2002.[4] Khapangi was nominated Minister of Social Affairs.[2]
In the 1999 parliamentary election, Rastriya Janamukti Party fielded 130 candidates.[2] They got 92567 votes (1% of the national vote), but no-one was elected.[5]
In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election, the party won 2 seats through the Proportional Representation vote.[6]
