[edit] "millions fled Cuba"

I think the statement In the wake of the 1959 Cuban revolution, when millions of people fled Cuba is significantly exaggerated. The best estimate I've seen is that roughly 8% of Cuba's population fled between 1959 and 1980, which would be something a bit under 1 million total by 1980 (Cuba has a population of about 11.3 million now, as of 2007). That's consistent with the rough estimate of "more than a million" expatriates as of 2006. The phrasing "in the wake of the 1959..." also implies that all those people left shortly after the revolution, when the best estimates I've seen put the numbers in the range of a quarter million in the first few years. Perhaps the phrasing, In the mass exodus following the 1959 Cuban revolution would be better, or a specific citation may be needed. Studerby 00:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
