Raphaël Aubert

Raphaël Aubert (born 1953 in Lausanne, Switzerland) is a writer and a journalist. He wrote many fictions and essays. As a journalist at Radio Suisse Romande, he travels in Russia, eastern countries, Near East, United States and in Asia.

Raphaël Aubert was brought up in a family of artists. He studied in the Faculty of Arts and Theology at University of Lausanne and in Paris.

His first book Proche de l’argile ou la Remontée, a collection of poems was published in 1975 ; since then, his works increased with about ten books, among which short stories and a novel La bataille de San Romano (San Romano’s battle), new edition 2006, whose action begins at the Louvre and questions the mysteries of Paolo Ucello's famous picture.
His essays particularly drawed the public’s and the critic’s attention (art press, Revue André Malraux Review), especially the books on André Malraux, and the one on Salman Rushdie L’affaire Rushdie (The Rushdie’s affair), 1990, first french written book on the Indo-British author. "Ce petit bouquin objectif et documenté échappe aux lieux communs pour poser - fort et clair - des questions essentielles" (L'Evénement du Jeudi). In Le Paradoxe Balthus (The Balthus’s Paradox), 2005, he evolves a quite iconoclastic argument on the famous Balthus’s picture La leçon de guitare (The Guitar Lesson).
Raphaël Aubert contributes to various reviews in Switzerland and in France, among which Ecriture and Le Passe Muraille.
