[edit] The Great Leveller
The word "Rao" has royal origins. However, in the present day India, it serves to equalize people of all castes. It is impossible to distinguish persons by caste solely on the basis of the Surname / title 'Rao'. It is a good sign.
Article moved from "Rao", because there is at least one abbreviation spelled "RAO". So I created a disambiguation page for it. (Raoulst 09:17, 26 March 2006 (UTC))
[edit] Merger
The Rao surname page should be merged with the Rao disambiguation page, because the disambiguation page is more of a Rao surname page that a disambiguation page. I suggest, lets have an edited disambiguation page and all the content other than the disambiguation text, shifted to Rao surname from the Rao mainpage. yessrao 22 March 2006
[edit] Contesting Speedy Delete
- It appears the author of this article is trying to move the original Rao Article and include a Disambiguation page so that users looking for Recurrent Airway Obstruction had somewhere to go... We should give the author time to read the disambiguation guidelines and set up a proper disambiguation page. - Dalamori 09:24, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- Disambiguation page installed as best I was able ... Rao (disambiguation) Dalamori 09:44, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] ? dab
To answer Raoulst's question in User talk:Dalamori about when to use a (disambiguation) page. When one subject is significantly more important than any others, we put that on the main title and use a (disambiguation) page (with a small d) for the other subjects. Eg. Walford and Walford (disambiguation). When subjects are of comparable importance, the substantive title is made the disambiguation page and all articles proper are given qualifiers/disambiguators in their titles. Eg. Barbara Fritchie.
In the case of Rao, I cannot decide which is best so I have left Rao and RAO as redirects. If someone else changes things, please do not commit any of the following sins:
- copy and paste instead of move
- upper case instead of lower
- double redirects.

[edit] so inaccurate
This article is so horribly inaccurate and unprofessional. Is this what the rest of wiki is like? I am a Rao, I have researched into the origin for a while and I cannot even begin to point out the flaws in this blog. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.107.77.162 (talk) 08:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
