Randwicked.
I cannot see the reason why Holiday Search would be any different in classification and linking to from Wikipedia than Google Satellite pictures... What is google not commercial? I'm new to this ... haven't posted a lot of information over the past month but if i am missing something, please let me know. Thanks,

Just noticed your Woolloomooloo census data change. ROTFL!!!! :-) --xoddam 08:56, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I notice you're adding a lot of good content for Sydney! Would it be possible, if you get a chance, to take a look at List of Sydney railway stations?
Someone else added it in messy tables and things, and I put most of it it into Wikiformat, but I don't know where Sydney specifically ends. So I don't know where Foo train station, Sydney becomes Foo train station, New South Wales (I'm from Melbourne). I'd appreciate it heaps if you could take a look. - Hi Ambiv, thanks.
- I had a look. I think that the stations where the suburban services end, i.e. Berowra, Richmond, Emu Plains, Macarthur, and Waterfall, all serve as a pretty good arbitrary definition of the end of Sydney. The exception is possibly Cowan, north of Berowra, and Lapstone west of Emu Plains. The Blue Mountains is troublesome, as I'm not even sure myself if we should include it as part of Sydney.
- Perhaps the best solution is to call the page 'Railway Stations of Sydney and surrounds', and keep the page as it is presently formatted, with separate lists for Suburban and Intercity lines. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to define Sydney exactly...I don't think it has a very good definition. :) I'm gonna change that, of course. :)

- Thanks for taking a look. I always planned to keep the page as it is, but when I'm creating the links for each individual station, I need to know where to change Sydney to NSW. I'll use those as borders though - thanks a bunch. Ambivalenthysteria 10:33, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)

- I've gone through and fixed those up, but I'm still unsure as to where Sydney ends on the South Coast Line. Any ideas? Ambivalenthysteria 15:58, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Idea for progress of Sydney suburbs
Hi Randwicked (again!), I've had an idea for showing the progress of filling in the blanks of Sydney suburbs, but for it to work I need the help of our resident map and geography expert (you!). Here's what I was thinking... we could make a sub-page for each city with the Sydney region and have a map of all the suburbs clearly divided up by border lines. Then, as we fill in the status of each suburb we could fill in the suburb that's "Complete" in a light blue (or something) and fill in "Featured" suburbs in a bright red colour (or something like that). It's just I'm hopeless at maps, so I'd need your help. What do you say? - Ta bu shi da yu 02:55, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Geography question
I don't know anything about geography. I was kind of wondering if you could give me some suggestions/add some material to the Strathfield article for me? I've done a fair amount of work on the history of the area, (only scratched the surface!) now I need to fill in the rest of the sections. My goal here, I hope, is to make an article that shows my idea of a featured area (can't say suburb as it's an LGA). Any input you can give me here would be most valuable, as if we can get clear and detailed information into the Strathfield article then we can use it as an example of the sort of thing that we should add to other Sydney area articles (and perhaps Melbourne articles also). - Ta bu shi da yu 13:25, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Map question
Nice maps and infobox. Very cool. I am interested in getting Gosford City Council and Wyong Shire Council (and related pages) into a similar shape - I wrote them some time back (originally including info now split off into Gosford, New South Wales, Wyong) but didn't have a systematic template. I may then head north - Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and maybe even West - Hawkesbury City Council, Cessnock City Council, but my knowledge is limited there. So I guess I would like to know where you got the map data to generate the maps, and what scripts/programs generated the pngs? 8-) Cheers, Andrew Kepert 08:47, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] VFD conduct
On WP:VFD (with reference to this subpage) please refrain from remarks such as
- Delete. Non-notable poems make the Baby Jesus cry. - User:Randwicked 13:16, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Nothing is wrong with calling the article's subject "non-notable", but this language "make the Baby Jesus cry" is harsh, unnecessary, and could be construed as provocative or offensive. Don't bite the newbies. -Fennec (はさばくのきつね) 04:30, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
