[edit] Randism <> Objectivism
I'm redirecting Randism to Ayn Rand and away from Objectivism (Ayn Rand). Randism, I would presume, would be all of the beliefs and opinions held by Ayn Rand. All those beliefs aren't necessarily part of Objectivism. Besides, there is no recognized doctrine called "Randism." Maybe this article (Randism) should even be deleted? - That was a mistake and you should have held off on such a major change until you got a consensus. Randism is a synonym for Objectivism [1], so it should point to what it means, not to a related article. Don't worry: Objectivism (Ayn Rand) names Rand in the title and links to her early on, so nobody will get lost. Al 18:16, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

- There is no consensus either way, so don't tell me I should hold off for a consensus. And, what's with the source you presented? That's not a credible source by any stretch of the imagination. RJII 18:18, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
There's just me and you, and I have a citation and you don't. I think that's sufficient, thanks. Al 01:05, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- No, you don't have a citation. A link to a website [2] of a self-published website of unknown authorship is meaningless. Review our sourcing policy. I can give you a source saying Randism and Objectivism are not the same, but it's self-published so it's also not credible. [3] What you presented as a source is just ridiculous. I don't know what the truly most common or accurate meaning in general or in academia is, but that selectsmart source you gave is totally non-credible, nothing approaching reliable. Of the first 10 Google hits for "Randism", all but one use Randism and Randist to be more restrictive close adherents to the Ayn Rand person, a subset of Objectivists, and none of these like the selectsmart page (a half-advertising, insanely organized personal website with one tangential use, nothing like any sort of intellectual statement). A good formulation for the more Ayn Rand-associated meaning is at http://www.objectivethought.com/objectivism/randism.html with "Randism is usually used to designate people who believe that Ayn Rand's works are inerrant. It also refers to the cult-like worship that is exhibited in the official organisations devoted to Objectivism..." However, these also are not especially independent or credible sources, just a little bit more credible and with Google pointing to its more common use on the Internet. To have Randism redirected to Objectivism, though, does a few reliable sources. —Centrx→talk 18:35, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Redirecting to Objectivist movement might also be a good candidate. —Centrx→talk 18:56, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Another option would be to make this a disambig to Objectivism (Ayn Rand), Ayn Rand and Objectivist movementCrazynas 00:55, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- That might work. By the way, I found out that the "Randism vs. Objectivism" excerpt from [4] was published in Children, Churches and Daddies, Volume 97, 1997. RJII 00:56, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I think the diasambiguation page is best, but if we have to redirect, I think we should redirect to Objectivism (Ayn Rand). When Objectivism was first being formed, many people (to Rand's chagrin) called Objectivism "Randism." LaszloWalrus 03:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
