Rani Hamid

Rani Hamid (Bangla: রাণী হামিদ) (b. 1944) is a chess player from Bangladesh. Hamid was born Sayeda Jasimunnessa Khatun in Sylhet, Bangladesh. She was awarded the FIDE Woman International Master (WIM) title in 1985. She has won the British Women's Championship in 1983, 1985, and 1989, and is the only female international master in Bangladesh.

Rani Hamid is arguably the most well known and successful female sports personality Bangladesh has produced. Her son Kaiser Hamid was a star soccer player for Mohammedan Sporting Club during the 1980s and 1990s.
