[edit] Specialist School Status

Range High School received Specialist school status in Mathematics and Computing in 2005 following large fundraising activities involving parents, local businesses and The Ogden Trust. Upon gaining specialist status, a grant was provided to the school by the Government allowing investment in new technology and to change the building work, making what was formally a Geography department into a state-of-the-art IT suite with Interactive whiteboards now in operation in many of the classrooms within the school.

[edit] Trivia

  • The 6th Form building shares the same design as Formby High School's 6th Form building - only a few miles down the road.
  • Member of the P.E. department, Gill Burns is a former captain of the Women's English Rugby union Team.[1]
  • The school is based on a house system. Each new student is assigned to a House; Derby (Yellow), Blundell (Blue), Weld (Red) & Sefton (green) These colours are reflected in the sports shirts worn for PE. The houses compete throughout the year in a variety of sporting and quiz events which culminates in a sports day to determine who wins the House Cup at the end of the year.
