Randy Leon Tomlin (nicknamed "Whispers"; born June 14, 1966 in Bainbridge, Maryland) is a former left-handed pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates who attended Liberty University. Liberty University has also seen names like Doug Brady, Sid Bream and Lee Guetterman. Tomlin played from 1990 to 1994 and batted and threw left-handed. He went 30-31 in 94 career starts with 297 career strikeouts. He is currently the pitching coach for the Potomac Nationals. He succeeded Charlie Corbell as Potomac's pitching coach, Corbell was once traded for the late Rod Beck.

Tomlin was drafted by the Pirates in the 18th round (460th overall) of the 1988 amateur entry draft. He posted amazing numbers in the minor leagues (see his professional stats here) and after only a couple years in the minors, he made his Major League debut on August 6, 1990.

Career highlights include a 2.55 ERA in 1990 and a 2.98 ERA in 1991.

Tomlin-who was 5'11" and 170 pounds-played his final Major League game on May 20, 1994. He currently lives in Madison Heights, Virginia.

His hat size is 7 1/8.

Tomlin was a teammate of John Wehner for seven years-longer than any other teammate. Statistically, he is most related to Vern Olsen.
