[edit] History
[edit] The Golden Age
The period namely known as the "Golden Age" was the beginning period of RWF. As a new promotion, the RWF Championship was created and a tournament was declared to attribute a winner. The winner of the Goldrush Tournament was Carnage, hearalded as the first ever RWF Champion. During this time the roster was very small, with most notable match ups containing Dan West and Carnage. Due to a lacking roster and no fixed arena to compete in, an attempt to increase popularity meant matches contained major hardcore bumps and foreign objects, such as tables, chairs and poles. It was at this time that "Crazy" Carl Conifey joined the promotion, and feuded namely for the rest of the year with West and Carnage for the RWF Championship. Carnage ended the year as the undefeated RWF Champion, and currently is the longest ever regining RWF Champion of all time. However, towards the beginning of 2007, the product began to dwindle and suffered a major blow as Carnage suffered an serious hand injury that kept him out of action for 5 months. forcing him to relinquish the RWF title. With the RWF title vacant lower carders began to emerge as the future of the RWF, with Dan West gaining his first ever RWF Championship win in June 2007.
[edit] The Ratings Plummet
When RWF returned in September 2007, Carnage, still being unable to compete began cutting return promos on RWF Breaking Point. He made his in ring return later that month, interrupting an interview with the then RWF Champion, Dan West. SRG Holcroft at this time began a brutal feud in backstage segments with Crazy Carl Conifey, ending in a backstage brawl with SRG Holcroft suffering a beating by the entire RWF Roster. It was also at this time, that Dan West was suffering with his character, and was taken of the active roster, with his final match ending in a losing effort to allow Carnage to become a 2 time RWF Champion. This was also a significant time for the RWF as it was the first time that the 6ft 7" Joe appeared in the RWF.
[edit] The Resurgence
Dan West returned in November 2007 with a alter ego, Father Jed and Kid West who was a more hyped up verison of his previous character Dan West. With this character, the RWF began to hold special gimmick matches such as the ladder match and a Brawl in a Chapel match. Father Jed captured the RWF Championship on December 12th 2007 with a victory in a fatal four way, only to lose it to Carnage before the turn of the year. Kid West returned to defeat Carnage the next night. "Crazy" Carl Conifey took a 3 month break at this time, allowing Jonny Hope to make his debut in the RWF, winning an elimination battle royal for a shot at the RWF Championship.
[edit] The End of an Era
Towards the beginning of January 2008, the current RWF roster, was beginning to get stale, and the company began preparing for the future. SRG Holcroft captured the RWF championship in a triple threat match involving Carnage and Kid West. SRG Holcroft would hold onto the title for over 3 months, holding the title until the 23rd May 2008 where the title was vacated by the kayfabe General Manager, Joseph James Clark.
