Rancho Cucamonga High School (RCHS)Rancho Cucamonga High School was opened in the fall of 1992 to roughly 1,500 students. The school opened with no senior class. The size of the school has grown along with the population of Rancho Cucamonga. In 2002, RCHS housed 3090 students, but with the opening two new high schools within the district, the overflow pressure of students was relieved. Currently, there are approximately 2,800 students enrolled at RCHS.[1][2]
The mission of RCHS is to ensure maximum student achievement by creating a school community of excellence through exemplary instruction, academic accountability and schoolwide programs. The vision is to be a superior school that ensures maximum achievement for all students.
Rancho Cucamonga High School was awarded the distinction of being a California Distinguished School in 1996 and in 2003. RCHS was accredited by WASC for 6 years in 1997 and again in 2003. In 1998 RCHS was nominated as a Blue Ribbon School. RCHS became a digital school in 1999.

The minority population at Rancho Cucamonga High School has grown and become increasingly diversified. While in 2000, 53 percent of students were white, this number had dropped to 38 percent in 2004. Hispanics currently make up 32 percent of the student body, followed by African Americans with 15 percent, and Asians with 5 percent. 8 percent of Rancho Cucamonga High School students belong to other minority subgroups.[1][2]
[edit] Athletics and Activities
Rancho Cucamonga High School supports a number of athletic activities, such as track and field, basketball, softball, tennis, football, baseball, soccer, waterpolo, swimming, wrestling, and volleyball. The school's sports teams have a history of competing with Los Osos High School, Etiwanda High School, and Alta Loma High School.
RCHS has a variety of musical activities including: marching band, cheerleading, colorguard, and songleading.
RCHS has a AFJROTC unit residing, CA-941.
