Ranan Lurie

Ranan R. Lurie (1932-) is an American Israeli editorial cartoonist and journalist. He is a Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a member of the United Nation Correspondents Association, and the editor of Cartoon News magazine.

Lurie became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1974.

Lurie lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife [1], a real estate manager. He is the father of film and television director and screenwriter Rod Lurie. Lurie is also a member of Mensa[2].

The Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Awards were created in 2000 to recognize cartoons that "enhance, explain and help direct the spirit and principles of the UN." The awards are worth a total of $18,000.
