I see you're decorating Wikipedia with some flowers. Please see WikiProject Tree of Life for guidelines about how to write articles about life forms. Also see Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (biology) and the examples at Hominidae and titan arum. -PierreAbbat
RE: Sainfoin -- The pleasure was all mine. :-) What really sets the table, and by extension the whole article, is that photo. Its gorgeous! Did you take the picture yourself? FYI, a good example of an aminal table that is at a higher taxonomic group is at nematoda. Also, the different fill colors for the various kingoms are at kingdom (biology) (just look at the table in edit mode). --maveric149
It looks like the image at Erysimum 'Chelsea Jacket' is OK to me. As for linking the larger version, Brion VIBBER has already done this for you in the thumbnail's image page. If you want ot provide a text link to it use "media" instead of "image". For example: media:ErysimumChelseaJacket.jpg. Hope this helps. --mav
Just a note: Could you place where you obtained these images from on their image pages? I assume the images are public domain or covered by a license compatible with the GNU FDL but we need to know for sure where the images came from. The reason is practical; many public domain images are obtained by companies and these companies either loose tract of that fact they are public domain or make minor changes to them and claim copyright. These companies then assume the images belong to them and demand that other sites using "their" images give them royalties. Which is a bunch of hogwash that can easily be avoided if we cite our sources. Thanks! --mav
The flower photos are great, but it's very important that you describe the source of these photos on the image's description page. I'd also prefer that you just put a link to the larger photo there rather than the photo itself, but that's just my personal preference. The text is important so we can know that we have the legal right to use the image. Finally, it would also be my personal preference for the small versions to be a little smaller. --LDC
Those are good pictures. :-) What kind of camera do you have? --KQ
Thanks for the info. That looks like a very good camera; the clarity in your pictures is amazing. --KQ
You wrote: "Hi again, I've started adding credits for the photos, which are taken by my wife and I. I'm fully versed in GPL and GFDL, so I know what these mean and love them dearly. But what's the point of having a check box for uploads when there's no sign of whether the image was submitted under GFDL?"
- First of all -- I love the photos and thank you for adding the attributions. However I'm not sure what you mean by your last point "But what's the point of having a check box for uploads when there's no sign of whether the image was submitted under GFDL?". Where might such a sign go? I'm probably completely missing the point. Can you elaborate? --mav
Lovely to see the Bishop of Llandaff, having just planted one out the other week in the garden. Mazzy
Welcome to Wikipedia! I love your flower pictures. The more, the better! --Ed Poor
Great picture at Old World thrush. :-) --KQ
I still haven't figured out if this is the preferred way to write to someone - there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to email anyone, though I think that some pages have this possibility - not all, though.
Thanks for putting the messages on my page. Actually I no longer live in/near Amersham, though I do go there fairly often. I used to live in Chesham, which is how I know about it.
I also have had (maybe still do) an interest in neural networks, and have written several papers on this area.
I restrained myself from putting some of the more notorious items of information about Amersham - e.g Mary Ellis the last woman to be hanged is buried there - that can be either left out, or in the external pages, or put somewhere else. I think that strictly some of the inns in old Amersham are coaching inns, but I can't remember if that's only the Crown, or whether some of the others are. Of course the Crown is also famous for "Four Weddings and a Funeral", but that's hardly historic.
Chesham is also "famous" for Thomas Harding, who was burned to death for his beliefs.
I'm quite happy to talk, even though I now live about an hour's drive away.
Hi, how's things? I wasn't expecting to meet anyone I actually knew on here. How long have you been a Wikipedian? I haven't been around here long and frankly most of my contributions thus far verge on the trivial but I'm working my way in gently :-) Phil 13:22, Oct 30, 2003 (UTC)
- Regarding TikiWiki, this looks interesting if more than slightly scary :-) I know quite a lot of the Youth Group are reasonably techno-able (see their site at [1], and several of our less young people too (Uncle Derek being a prime example). My basic problem is that I only have Internet access via work at present which severely curtails my activities. I don't know whether you are aware but there is (or should be) an existing website for St Mary's: Juliet Clayton (now Darvill) and I spent a considerable amount of time on it but it was eventually changed totally by James Harper; I have no idea what state it is now in. hi I noticed you are also working on flowers - could you please clarify the license / copyright situation of w:Image:LunariaRediviva.jpg? I'd like to use them on the dutch wiki, but got to be sure about the copyright first - on the dutch wiki, we're a lot stricter than on en: t.i.a., TeunSpaans 19:16, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
thx for answering! Do I understand correctly that you made the photograph yourself? TeunSpaans 20:37, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Tagging images
Hi!
I've found a few images by you too. They're very nice. I have tagged some of them with {{GFDL}}, since you said you photographed them yourself. Is that the case with: Image:Image:TrilliumChloropetalumRubrum-thumb.jpg?
Please place the text {{GFDL}} in the Description field of images that you license under GFDL. You can also use {{PD}} to release them into the public domain. David Remahl 14:53, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Gentiana
I am at the moment reworking this page. I found that your image Gentiana acaulis [[Image:GentianaAcaulisRannoch-thumb.jpg]] has no copyright tag. It assume it is {{GFDL}}, but is up to you to put the right tag. As you probably know, all non-tagged photos will be removed in the future. JoJan 15:58, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright tag
I put the {{GFDL}} copyright tag on your photo [[Image:AnacamptisPyramidalis-thumb.jpg]] and Ophrys apifera, since you took the photo yourself and gave permission for other photos. If you don't agree, take away the tag or replace it eventually by {{PD}} or {{cc-by-2.0}}. Otherwise, non-tagged photos will be deleted in the future JoJan 17:19, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Image:TulipaBataliniiBronzeCharm.jpg
Hi! Thanks for uploading Image:TulipaBataliniiBronzeCharm.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, – Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 18:37, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of that. Now how about this beautiful image? Image:HyacinthoidesNonScripta.jpg – Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 14:19, Dec 21, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Wordsworth and the Celandine =
I have put a challenge against the reference to Wordsworth gravestone that you added to Lesser celandine. Can you confirm your source for this information since none of the images of the grave that I have seen show any floral decoration ? Thanks. Velela 19:40, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image source
Thank you for uploading Image:GeraniumMaderense-thumb.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. Thank you.
[edit] Wikimedia Commons picture of Robin
Hi - my name's Rohan Fenwick. I just wanted to ask for your permission to use your picture of the robin Erithacus rubecula from the Wikimedia Commons in my Ubykh-English dictionary. I know the picture is under the GNU licence, but I just wanted to ask you to double-check, as I intend to publish the dictionary as a hard-copy book. You can contact me at my Wikipedia user page. Thanks! thefamouseccles 09:44, 06 Mar 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I represent an author who would like to use your image Gentiana Acaulis in a book. Could you please contact me for further details. Thanks. Besharl 08:40, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image source problem with Image:RhododendronRoosevelt.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:RhododendronRoosevelt.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:40, 28 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Papa November 1 14:40, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:RhododendronRoosevelt.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:RhododendronRoosevelt.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Papa November 1 14:40, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
