jubilee celebrations in 1982. Shri. Ramesh’s speech in Hindi during the inaugural earned the attention and appreciation of Rajivji.

He was invited to Delhi and this marked the start of a warm relationship between Rajivji and Shri. Ramesh. Indiraji directly took efforts to get a seat for him in the state legislative assembly in 1982 while later Rajivji extended support for him to be elected to the Parliament. These instances show the contribution and dedication of Shri. Ramesh towards the growth of the party.

Rajiv Gandhi promoted his political career since then and even visited his constituency in 1991 for campaigning just 10 days before the fateful event that claimed his life. Ramesh was selected as one of the 40 young leaders in India. He was also supported by Rajivji to coordinate the youth movement in the country and to imbibe them with Congress ideologies. His presidency as the youth leader of the congress party was a golden period in his political career and he was the catalyst for his political rising.
