Ramon Soler (born: September 19, 1977 in Las Caboas, Dominican Republic) is a right-handed throwing, switch hitting former Tampa Bay Devil Rays, New York Mets and San Francisco Giants infield prospect who was last seen in pro baseball in 2003. Soler, who was 6'3" and 175 pounds, never showed one standout skill-he was a constant .220-.280 hitter, with good speed (24 steals with San Jose Giants and Norwich Navigators in 2003) and minimal power (whether it be extra base power or home run power). He also had a poor eye at the plate (only 30 walks in 112 games combined in 2003). Even with these less-than-stellar credentials, he managed to make it to AAA before calling it quits.
Soler was part of the "age change conspiracy" quite common with foreign ballplayers. He came into American pro baseball claiming to be born on July 6, 1981, when he really was born on September 19, 1977.
