Ramachandra S. Hosamane (1944-) is a Senior Professor of Organic Chemistry at University of Maryland, Baltimore county (UMBC). He has worked on around 50 Grant supports at UMBC and contributed significantly to the Development of Organic Chemistry.
Mr. Hosmane was awarded as Maryland Chemist of the Year Award from American Chemical Society, Maryland Division. In 2001, he was awarded Outstanding Educator of the Year Award from Maryland Association for Higher Education (MAHE). Also he was given the University Presidential Research Professor. In 1996, he was Outstanding Mentor, Project SEED (American Chemical Society).
Dr. Hosmane is a Managing Editor, Frontiers in Bioscience; current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry; Regional Editor, Molecules . He acted as peer reviewer for PRF, NIH, NSF, Am. Heart Assoc., Res. [edit] Early life and career
Mr. Ram Hosmane was born in Gokarna, Uttar Kannada, India and completed high school from Bhadrakali High School, Gokarna. In 1966, he passed B.Sc Chemistry from Karnataka University, Dharwar. He earned M.S (1976) and Ph.D(1978) in Chemistry from University of South Florida, USA. Dr. Hosmane joined UMBC as an Asst. Professor in the year 1982 and promoted as a Professor in the year 1994. Dr. Hosmane has over 100 outstanding publications. His contributions to the field of Organic Chemistry are remarkable.
Dr. Hosmane has married Raji. They have one daughter Mala.
