[edit] Thanks for your support on my RfA!

Image:WikiThanks.png Thanks for your support of my adminship!! I was surprised at the turnout and support I got! If you ever have any issues with any of my actions, please notify me on my talk page! Thanks again! Although I'm more a fan of Vanilla Pepsi myself, LOL!Ryan Norton T | @ | C 03:16, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Congrats!!!

You are now a mediator. I have to go to sleep now... more tomorrow! Redwolf24 (talk—How's my driving?) 04:11, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard the Mediation Committee, Ral315! I look forward to working with you as a mediator. Also, I would suggest you add your email to the mediation mailing list; there's been some recent discussion there. Congrats! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 13:39, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

Yes, that's where to go. Redwolf24 (talk—How's my driving?) 22:33, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for your congratulations; I'll do my best to be fair and effective. I haven't yet decided whether I will run: depends on how the next few weeks go. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 17:20, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

If you have a chance, take a look at my request on Meta. Note, this is an invitation to look, not a solicitation, per say. :) Who?¿? 00:15, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Esperanza Spam

Hello Esperanzians! A few announcements.

The Advisory Committee election results are in. In tranch A are Acetic Acid and Flcelloguy. In tranch B are Ryan Norton and Bratsche.

My other annoouncement is that our founder, JCarriker, has founded Esperanza's sister project, Wikipediology. I have written two essays here (my name is Matt Binder). My essays are under Teenage Wikipedians and Anon Editors.

On behalf of myself and Jay Carriker and the other wikipediologists, I would appreciate it if you were to join.

Cheers Esperanza! Redwolf24 (talk—How's my driving?) 23:45, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

Ral315, I'm running a bit behind and my Signpost submissions will be a bit late. Just giving you a heads up; I hopefully should have them done before you log in again. :-) Thanks! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 23:57, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for re-formatting and finishing my article. I apologize; I've been busy and really had to do something else. Thanks again! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 20:51, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks.

Thanks for speedy delete on the Brian Peppers article. It bothered me to see WP used for peddling low level stuff like that. This is an encyclopedia, not a gossip column.—Gaff talk 07:59, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

No prob, glad to help. I'll do my best to be as NPOV on the AFD/RFA side of things as possible, even though I can stir up things in there time to time ;-) I'll reset the slate for the new week now unless you have any objections. Karmafist 20:58, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

Not a problem, I guess I could do admins, but i'm not very interested in FA right now, and really, I might as well not do anything. I thought things would be different on here than the "Journalists must not live in the same world as they people they report on" philosophy I found at most newspapers I worked at had. Ultimately though, it's not a huge deal because it seemed like an AFD column would be alot of statistical work beyond my ken(since I don't know how to make bots.), and I don't have a desire to fight for it because of that.
If you have another name for that "Users to Watch" page, let me know and i'll change the name, but i'm going to keep the content. Karmafist 15:20, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
No prob, I assumed that WP:NPOV was just for article space, but no biggie. You never know, having a column in there some day may be an interesting change of pace. I'll still write the article on the Esperanza Election though. Karmafist 21:53, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Timwi

could you post the -now deleted- content to my page? For me it is really bad. An admin abuses his admin rights and does not say sorry for this nor says he won't do so in the future. 48 h for admin right abuse - with an admin not regarding the abuse a mistake - it is really bad. But I see Admins help Admins. Nobody but Lomn cares about the abuse, but the RfC is deleted quite fast. Timwi can run around with abusing his powers and be happy it it not filed.

But he should not: I started User:Tobias Conradi/Admin right abuse and it woul d be helpfull if you could post the stuff that you recently deleted. Tobias Conradi (Talk) 03:56, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

I do not want it permanantly undeleted, I just want a copy of it. If I would have known that it would get deleted I would have copied it myself. What's your problem with giving a copy of it? If you say I can go to Vf undeletion than it seems to be allowed. So, why involve dozens more people in this? Tobias Conradi (Talk) 15:56, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Can you tell why you don't want to do it and get dozens others involved? thanks. Tobias Conradi (Talk) 16:54, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Transcluded?

What does "transcluded template" mean? User:Purplefeltangel/sig 20:29, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Is that really so bad? :/ I've seen other admins doing it. But I will fix. User:Purplefeltangel/sig 20:35, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Meeting My Deadline

Here Ya Go, Chief. In the real world i'm a professional at this(albeit an out of work professional), and professionals write the stories by their deadlines. Whatever happens after that is the editors' job.
Hey, I got an idea regarding the AFD thing before. Maybe it could just be "x articles went to AFD this week, x were deleted, x were kept, x were no consensus, etc. If that's what you meant before, sorry for the misunderstanding.Karmafist 00:59, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Sorry about not understanding the protocol, chief. I'm still in real world newsroom mode, not wiki-news room. Anyway, I was curious as to the election template being removed. Was it just a style thing? It wasn't a big deal in either case, but I thought it added some depth. I also was curious about the total potential vote count. I think we both screwed up, I added an inconspicuous link to the final membership list before the freeze here on the article, but I also thought it would also add some depth to how few people actively participated, i'm going to check the members voting at all right now.
I agree with the Homer Simpson removal though, I suppose the world just isn't ready for Post Modern Journalism -- journalists getting in the middle of the story and then trying to objectively report on those actions from the outside, just look at how much Geraldo Rivera sucks. I suppose my dream of becoming a periodical version of Hunter S. Thompson will be accepted someday. Until then i'm applying here, at least for now. I heard they're hiring. Please feel free to send me more assignments, that was fun. Karmafist 18:51, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Explanation

All three of those people opted out of voting voluntarily, there was no rule anywhere saying they couldn't. Check here. I'll change the story now to clarify this. Also, you didn't answer my question on the election template.Karmafist 20:14, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] That's Fine

Overlooked it, since the Charter, like most rules on Wikipedia, are generally ignored unless there are issues. Essjay clarified on the Election page anyway at the link above because of this. Good luck at Signpost. Karmafist 20:48, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Signpost

Ral315, I read the newsroom suggestion about having "letters to the editor", and that made me think. First, I think that having a "letters to the editor" section is a great idea, though we would have to make sure all letters are expressing opinion, not just using this as an annoucement board. In other words, letters would be semi-editorials; this wouldn't be a news bulletin. It would be similar to the "Reader views" section on most newspapers. That made me think - is there any way to let people submit opinions anonymously, or just have them confidential so rejected submissions don't have to be read? And then it hit me: email. I've gone ahead and registered wikipediasignpost AT gmail DOT com, and I'll send you the password if you think this is a good idea. Having an email account can also be useful for other things as well: we could offer the Signpost via email; I'm sure many editors would appreciate that. Finally, suggestions and tips can also be sent to the email address, making our work more efficient and making it easier to contact us. Let me know what you think, and I'll send you the password either way. Thanks a lot! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 21:03, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

P.S. Just a heads up that we might have to change around some of the ArbCom series given Jimbo's changes; some of the currently scheduled articles probably wouldn't fit under the reformed system. What do you think? Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 21:06, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Signpost News and Notes

Sorry about missing this week's bit -- more family medical issues. I haven't been near the computer since Friday or I'd have let you know I wasn't going to make it. Should be able to do next week; I'm trying to do build the list of citations and such during the week so it doesn't take long on Sundays to finish it up. Again, my apologies, and thanks for the good work. — Catherine\talk 18:29, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

You, or any Wikipedia user, can contribute your suggestions and comments to the /Workshop page of any active arbitration case. Comments on evidence or proposals can help in understanding the import of evidence and in refining proposals. Proposed principles, findings of fact, or remedies may be listed on /Proposed decision and form part of the final decision. Fred Bauder 14:46, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Signpost

Thanks. I'm afraid that our series will potentially have to be adjusted if Jimbo's proposed changes do occur; we might have to shift things around and maybe come up with a few alternative topics. For example, a piece on the decided voting method might not be all that appropriate if it turns into "confirmations", though I'm sure I could scrap up something on that. :-) I guess we'll have to see what happens this week. Regarding email, did you get the password I sent to you? First time I've used "email this user" (and the message didn't get placed in my sent mail), so I'm not sure it got sent. (Though I probably should have just looked on the mediation mailing list for your address... :-)) If you need me to do anything at all, just let me know. THanks! I sent you an email. Read it. :) --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 05:02, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Ral, you shouldn't be the last to know so I'm advising you of a "situation". Ben has responded to a draft RfC Woohookitty was preparing against him (see [1]). Ben also filed two RfCs of his own, one of which was deleted by Dmcdevit. Simesa 04:38, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WP:MC

Unsure, I'm basically just there at the behest of Redwolf24, who I respect alot. My main goal right now should be preparing for Linuxbeak's rfar of Pigs. He's been incredibly obnoxious in trying to discredit me everywhere I go despite the fact that nobody has agreed with his assessments so far and my attempts to help him over the past week or so, and in that time he's been involved in three revert wars, and very likely will be involved in several more if restrictions aren't placed upon him.
