Ralph Crookes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ralph Crookes was a first class cricketer who played one match for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1879 against Kent CCC at Mote Park in Maidstone.
The game brought him little personal glory. He scored a 2 not out at number 11 in Yorkshire's first innings and then a duck when, bizarrely, he was promoted to open second time around. Although he bowled ten tight overs for just 14 runs in Kent's second innings he didn't take a wicket and Kent won a nail biting thriller by just 7 runs as Yorkshire were bowled out for 114 chasing 121 to win.
Born on October 9, 1846 in Sheffield he died there on February 15, 1897.
