Raleigh School

The Raleigh School is a non-sectarian elementary private school in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, serving students in preschool through fifth grade. The Raleigh Preschool was established in 1952 as a preschool and received a state charter in 1955. The current name was adopted in 1992, and the school's K-5 program was added the following year.[1] The Raleigh School has been recognized by the Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

As of 2007, there were 180 students in the preschool program. The K-5 program serves 260 students, with class sizes of 22 and a student-teacher ratio of 11:1.[2]

The preschool program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children through June 30, 2010.[3] The elementary school is accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools for the 2004-2009 period.[4]

On October 2, 2007, The Raleigh School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education[5][6], the highest award an American school can receive.[7][8]
