Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, is an Indian investor and a partner in his asset management firm, Rare Enterprises. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession and is one of the better known equity investors in India. He has been a keen and active participant in Indian capital markets since 1983, when he started as a trader with a small capital. In 2007, Forbes rated him as India's 51st and the world's #1062 richest man with wealth of $1.1 billion. A large man in his late 40s, Jhunjhunwala was described earlier this year in a magazine as the “pin-up boy of the current bull run”

"My decision to aggressively invest in the asset class of Indian equities at the right time was a very important determinant of my success,” said Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Son of an income tax officer, he started dabbling in stocks while in college. Rather than take a job, plunged into investing, starting with $100 in 1985 when the Bombay Stock Exchange Index was at 150; it is now over 17,000. His privately owned stock trading firm Rare Enterprises, derives name from first two initials of his name and wife Rekha's name. Fond of cigars and whiskey, which he consumes every day.
Jhunjhunwala's portfolio of stocks are tracked religiously. His latest stock portfolio is the subject of many debates and analysis. Like Warren Buffett, Jhunjhunwala is a long investor and does not trade for short term profit.
