[edit] infobox
copied from User talk:Ragib
Do you guys think we should use a different infobox for RU? USC has an infobox which IMO looks way nicer, more like an FA than the present one. I think ppm supports this idea as well, but I dont know enough abour RU to make the changes.Bakaman Bakatalk 18:43, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- it's the same infobox, its just a matter of filling up pertinent fields.--ppm 01:28, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unrest and POV
As I understand not all the things that happened to and at Rajshahi Unversity in last two decades were nice and positive. Rather it was on the contrary. Suppressing the not-nice part almost entirely may amount to POV unless done with a consensus. The not-so-nice stuff could avoid controversy and POV claims by citing properly from respectable sources, and of course a careful choice of words. I am attaching two such sources here, form the Daily Star, the leading English newspaper in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, for events before this millenium there is almost nothing on the online archive of Bangladeshi newspapers.
- The Daily Star: RU teacher knifed to death
- The Daily Star: RU Arabic teacher militant Galib arrested
Nonetheless, RU suffered long and bitter of militancy and fundamentalist politics, violence and unrest, murder of teachers and students and more. It is wonderful that the university survived all that. I don't think an omission of this reality should stop us from taking it to the status of a featured article. But, I think an encyclopedia needs to be comprehensive, barring the trivial.
An option could be creating a separate article on the unrest and violence at RU. Say what? This discussion already seems a bit out of place here. So, may be we can carry this over to the article talk page. Oh, and I still support the article going to FA. Aditya Kabir 09:38, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images
- The images look washed out. Needs to be touched up.
- Logo needs a source

- Hmm, I think shmitra has scanned some of these from print photos, and the originals may be like this. But we'd have to ask him for that.
- Added a source for the logo. --Ragib 16:22, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

- Yes they are scanned, unfortuantely. If anyone can clean them up feel free to, the licensing allows that.--ppm 20:03, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Politics
Congrats to all who worked on this article and made it an FA. Another BD FA - and Rama's Arrow wasn't even involved in this! However, it seemed to me that the student politics angle has been under-served. Especially the fact that along with Chittagong Uni, RU is seen to be one of the major centres of Shibir recruitment and activity in Bangladesh and is perceived by the public as such as well. Wasn't an RU teacher killed sometime ago? (My memory could be faulty here.) There is no mention of Shibir anywhere in the article. Best wishes. --Peripatetic 08:37, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the article does discuss the death of a professor (In September 2006, two professors of the university were murdered,[31] ). --Ragib 08:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

- I disagree. The politics factor is flashy and gains lot of attention in BD for obvious reasons, but the "mundane" day to day activities of an university is what this article is mainly about. There is also a lack of references for the type of info mentioned--ppm 19:13, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
