Siddhant Rai (Rishi Kapoor) is a rich and successful architect who lives in a huge bungalow with his three children Rohit, Rahul and Rani. Unfortunately, Siddhant has lost his wife and the kids are so naughty that they’ve driven ten governesses away. Never the less Siddhant offers a job for somebody to come to look after the kids. Soon, a young orphaned girl, Anna (Kajol) applies for the job. On her way to the Rai household, she meets Shekhar (Ajay Devgan) and he confesses love to her. However Anna shows no love for him in return. Shekhar then decides to follow Anna all the way to Siddhant’s house. At her arrival to the house the kid’s play many cruel pranks on her which include making her think the house is haunted and sending her a telegram saying that he parents are dead. After a few days, she decides to leave but when the kids realise their mistake, she stays. Now Shekhar keeps annoying Anna but Anna does confess her love to him soon. Siddhant agrees to let Shekar marry Anna but on their wedding day Siddhant learns that Shekar is in fact a thief who robbed a bank (which is how Shekar bumped into Anna in the first place) and it is also revealed that Shekar is planning to steal Siddhant's fortune and he is arrested.

Anna is now heartbroken and leaves the Rai household and Siddhant and the children set out to find her. Sadly though, they meet with an accident and Siddhant loses his life. Now Siddhant’s three brothers take over the Rai household and ill treat the kids. One day though, a man (who is in fact Shekhar) appears and claims himself to be Raju Chacha, the younger brother of Siddhant who left the house when he was 11 years of age. This is a lovely surprise for the kids but an even bigger one comes when Anna returns. Their next surprise confuses them a lot… another man turns up and tells them that he is the real Raju Chacha…
