Coordinates: Rajpura is a city and a municipal council in Patiala district in the Indian state of Punjab.

Rajpura is located at [1] It has an average elevation of 259 metres (849 feet). Rajpura is situated nearly 40 km south east of Chandigarh, the capital city of Punjab. Besides being an important industrial town of Punjab, it also has historical importance.
.Rajpura is an industrial town. There are number of large scale industries like HLL, Amrit Banaspati Company Limited, Siel Chemicals Limited,Amber Enterpsises Limited, etc. and there are large number of small scale industries. Presently Mr. Raj Kumar Khurana is its MLA, he is from SAD-BJP combine.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Rajpura had a population of 82,551. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Rajpura has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 70%. In Rajpura, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Rajpura is situated on the National Highway No. 1 which has been stretched from Kolkatta to Amritsar. Rajpura can be regarded as 'Gateway of Punjab' as all road and rail transport needs to touch Rajpura for the routes going to other major cities of Punjab as well as Jammu & Kashmir. Rajpura has north india's only orphanage center "SOS". Rajpura's timber market is one the largest timber market in Punjab.
Rajpura, being a tehsil, is best place to shop around for the people from near by villagers and localides.( Rajpura as a tehsil includes more than 100 villages under its muncipal limts). Hansu puri chhole .Another major attraction of Rajpura is Hotel Eagle Motel.Above the skyline and overlooking the Eagle Motel is centrally situated in the heart of the business district. The city's main promenade, lights up in the evening to give a spectacular view of the Queen's Necklace.
Rajpura is divided into different colonies such as Focal Point, Guru Nanak colony, Gobind colony, Sham nagar, Dashmesh Colony, Gandhi Colony etc.
