Rajgurunagar

Rajgurunagar is town in Maharashtra, India.

It is famous as the birth place of the Indian revolutionary Rajguru. Rajgurunagar has witnessed several memorable incidents during its history. The battle between Tarabai and Dilawarkhan took place near Rajgurunagar. Peshwas had maintained close relations with this city. Mastani Mahal was built in Pabhal near Rajgurunagar. Holy places like Alandi, Bhimashankar are in close proximity to Rajgurunagar. The mountain Shingeshwar Parwat is 35km (22 miles) from Rajgurunagar.

Rajgurunagar is located at the end of northern block of the Pune city in Maharashtra state of India. Its old name was Khed, which was changed to Rajgurunagar around 28 years ago in honour of Hutatma Rajguru. Rajgurunagar is located on the bank of the river Bhima and 40 km (25 miles) away from Pune. The Pune-Nashik Highway(NH-50) connects Rajgurunagar with Pune and Nashik.

The K.T.E.S. English Medium School, & Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya was founded in 1938.

The town has a college, Hutatma Rajguru Mahavidyalaya.

Rajgurunagar is located at a distance of about 40km (25 miles) from Pune Station. You can take ST Bus/PMT Bus from Shivajinagar Bus Stand OR Pune Station, Pune Corporation which will drop you at Rajgurunagar. It takes around 1 hour to reach the place. A local transport available is Auto Riksha.
