Rajam is located at 18.28N 83.40E.[1] It has an average elevation of 41 meters (137 feet).

As of 2001 India census[2], Rajam had a population of 23,258. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Rajam has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 58%. In Rajam, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

- Rajam town is center of jute mills and steel mills. Rajam is the largest jute producing town of Andhra Pradesh.
