I have all the completed Seattle buildings done. Can you take off the links for the non noteable approved, proposed, and under construction ones? Alaskan assassin (talk) 01:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

- I went ahead and made articlus for approved, proposed, and under construction building over 500ft and got rid of the rest of the redlinks. What list should we do next? Alaskan assassin (talk) 01:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I've got Chicago done. I'm gonning to start on Las Vegas next. Alaskan assassin (talk) 19:06, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll do Columbus next, and then New York. So do you think that the name should be changed to tallest building in Las Veagas Metro? Alaskan assassin (talk) 19:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I think it would be all right to just keep in tallest in Las Vegas. The list already states that it inlcudes buildings from the surronding communities and there address is sill Las Vegas. I think we should get Letimap and Hydrogen Iodide veiw before any desison is made. Alaskan assassin (talk) 19:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I have Columbus done, I'll start on New York in a the next few days. Alaskan assassin (talk) 02:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
New York has no redlinks now. I'm going to do Atlanta next. Alaskan assassin (talk) 00:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Done with Atlanta. Do youthink it is ready for FLC? I guss Las Vegas is the last one left so I'll start on that soon. Alaskan assassin (talk) 02:11, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
On the Las Vegas list, there are alot of buildings on the proposed and approved list that look like they might not get built. On emporis and skyscraperpage it says they were supposed to start construction in 2006 or 2007, but still list them as approved or proposed. Can I just remove the links, because it seem pointless to make an article on a building that might not get built. I already removed the stale proposles. Alaskan assassin (talk) 21:39, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
What about just removing the links but keeping them listed? Alaskan assassin (talk) 22:23, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
The Merrill is proposed for delition. I'm goning to go ahead and remove the tag. Alaskan assassin (talk) 17:49, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I recently put a meesage here saying I disagred with the creation of pages for the stale propsals. I removed it decding to go ahead and create them, but I have changed my mind again. Why should wikipedia have pages about buildings that aren't going to be built. Besides, they'll just get deleted, like Evolution Lofts, which was deleted two mineutes after I saved it, but the editor decided to reinstate it with a delition tag. But besides that, I guss thats it for article creation on the FTD? Alaskan assassin (talk) 00:12, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I have expanded the lead on List of tallest buildings in New York City. Can you make the changes to bring it up to FLC? Alaskan assassin (talk) 02:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

- GA Topic
Do you know what a GA topic is? If you are not nodding your head, or don't know what I'm talking about, then you should pay attention to this article.
There are ten GA top-level topics (but you will spot the eleventh as this article goes along). These topics are: Arts, Language and literature, Philosophy and religion, Everyday life, Social sciences and society, Geography and places, History, Engineering and technology, Mathematics, and Natural sciences. Each of these topics are further narrowed down to more specific topics. For example, Arts can be narrowed down to Art and architecture, Music, and Theatre, film and drama. But let's not get into sub-topics in this article because of its depth.
Now you will probably ask, "I already knew this, so what is your point?" What I want to illustrate is that some people often forget a step when they promote an article to GA. After they have posted their review in the article talk page, added the article name to the corresponding topic in the good article page, increased the GA count by 1, and added the {{GA}} to article talk page, many reviewers tend to forget to add the topic parameter in {{GA}} or {{ArticleHistory}}. You can browse the topic parameter abbreviations at on this page as well as what each top-level GA topic means, because sometimes it can be chaotic and confusing to pick a topic. For example, should On the Origin of Species be placed under the Natural Science topic (because it's related to evolution), or under the Language and Literature topic (because it is a book)? The correct answer is to place it under Language and literature topic, because its categorization as a proper title supercedes other categories.
Let's go back to the page that shows GA topics; does anyone spot the eleventh topic? Yes, Category:Uncategorized good articles is the 11th topic, only it shouldn't be there. Articles that do not have a topic parameter in either {{GA}} or {{ArticleHistory}} will be placed in this category. The topic "Uncategorized" is not very informative, is it? So if you have time, you can consider cleaning up the articles that are left in this category and move them to the appropriate category by adding a topic parameter.
That's it for this month, I hope you learned a little from it.
- GA Sweeps Update
The GA Sweeps process is progressing nicely! During the month of April, a total of 26 articles were reviewed. Of that total, 15 were found to continue to meet the GA criteria, and two were delisted. There are currently six articles that are still on hold in this process, awaiting revisions. One article was exempted from review because it was promoted to FA. Two articles were exempted from review because they were already delisted by another member in the community.
We are once again recruiting new sweeps participants. Candidates should be very strong and comfortable in reviewing GA and familiar with the GA processes and criteria. If you are interested, please contact OhanaUnited for details.
- Did You Know...
- ...that there are slightly less than twice as many Good Articles as Featured Articles?
- ...that the total number of Good Articles and Featured Articles combined is 6,085?
- ...that different languages have different symbols representing GA? (Alemannic uses , Bavarian uses , Czech and French use , Estonian, Icelandic, and Swedish use , Esperanto and German use , Polish, Spanish, and Turkish use , Portuguese uses , Russian uses , Ukrainian uses )
Note: Lithuanian and Serbian have their own symbol but only uploaded locally. Other languages not listed above either have the same symbol as english or they don't have GA process.
- From the Editors
There is currently a debate on adding a small green dot to the top right corner of all Good Articles that pass the criteria, similar to the small bronze star that is added to the top right corner of Featured Articles. Members of WikiProject Good Articles are encouraged to participate in the debate on this page.

[edit] Tallest Buildings in Seoul
This may be out of your area, but I just made some massive changes to Template:WikiProject St. Louis using code ripped from Template:WikiProject Korea. But if you look at Talk:Korea Baseball Organization and compare it to Talk:Gravois Park, St. Louis, you will see that I have made a big mistake on the working group component. I don't understand why there is a category appearing below it either. At least there are now category links to the different classes and importance ranks. Anyway, I'm really confused and I have no more time today. I'll tackle it again tomorrow. If you could look at it, I would really appreciate it. DaronDierkes (talk) 13:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- You've got some mad skills. How long did that take you? twenty seconds? Wow. You are amazing! Thank you.
- I know there are red links now. I intended to I've got lots of stuff to move there now. Thank you much. DaronDierkes (talk) 02:07, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed I do have more code questions. What have I done to create this space after the template? When the St. Louis WP banner is on the page with another banner, there is a space for some reason. Check out Talk:Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. It is something that should be addressed, I think, but I don't see any overt linebreaks in the code for Template:WikiProject St. Louis. Any thoughts?
- Awesome. DaronDierkes (talk) 00:31, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I've strayed from architecture a little of late, but i've made strides at Wikipedia:WikiProject St. Louis/Education. I've become a bit category obsessed. I've only now learned that I can't change categories without permission from some far off category discussion group... Blah. Anyway, do know if it is possible to make a watchlist for a wikiproject? That'd be really helpful. If for instance, I could put all the articles tagged as part of the st. louis education working group under a watchlist on the working group page, that'd be sweet. Any thoughts oh advisor of mine? DaronDierkes (talk) 04:25, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- that infobox was kind of unhelpful. I could only fill in like two fields and those were not informative. I took a proactive approach. I suppose I'm allow to do it... I ripped and modified the original userbox code. Heh. I think I'll do similar things for the other working groups soon. I'm not sure if a pages to watch page is what I was hoping for. I'll think about it. Maybe I can figure something out. Thanks.
- If you are going to be working on Miami, then maybe you'll be able to step into the category arena going on between the bot controlling people at Wikipedia:Categories under Discussion. There's a big thing between city vs. metro area stuff right now. I strongly disagree with some of them. It comes down to deciding if Category:Buildings and structures in Miami, Florida refers to those buildings inside the city limits or all the buildings in the metro area. I hold the position that there must be a second category for Category:Buildings and structures in the Miami Metro Area because saying a building in the next county over is located in miami, florida is an outright lie. This is much more true for Baltimore and St. Louis who are not part of any county and have special government designations. This is especially irritating to me as I see things like Education in St. Louis, Missouri. The article is confused about its focus. Is it talking about the city or the area around it? The k-12 schools it lists are only those inside the city limits and the universities are almost all outside it, some even in another state. Education in St. Louis, Missouri should cover those things that happen in its borders because the article for St. Louis, Missouri deals only with that area. !!! There is an article for Greater St. Louis so the macro ed article should be Education in Greater St. Louis. This is just my opinion, but i'm certainly going to hold to it. DaronDierkes (talk) 05:48, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Miscellaneous comments
Hello Raime. An editor recently added Miami to a sentence about cities that are experiencing major building booms to the Skyscraper article. Another editor that is keeping close track of the article (and removes anything that is not sourced because "this article needs sources from now on"), added {{Citation needed}} after the sentence. To add a source myself, I went to the List of tallest buildings in Miami where I know it says something similar. I was hoping to use the exact same reference, but there is none, only a note. Can you add a reference to both statements in the Miami list and the skyscrapers article?
About the List of tallest buildings in Los Angeles, I have a few "issues" with your edits. First of all, why do the timelines for the tallest buildings lists only include one reference? You removed the Emporis references that I added. Isn't it easier to change the column title to "References" instead of removing the references that provided the content for the table? And, I remember when we were working on the Dubai list, I learned that it is better to have two references instead of one where possible. Shouldn't this apply to the timeline also? Secondly, I had used a SkyscraperPage diagram to find that nine of the ten tallest buildings in California are in Los Angeles. You changed it to seven. But I found a third statistic. At the List of tallest buildings in the United States (if you put the tallest building list in order of city), it shows that there are eight buildings in Los Angeles and two in San Francisco, and no other buildings in any other California city. There must be a mistake somewhere that needs to be fixed.
I know that this it is too early to discuss this, but I will inform you of my thoughts. After the current Featured Topic Drive is complete, do you think it would be wise to work on either the largest skylines throughout the whole world and/or cities that have a building that is one of the tallest building in the world. I was thinking that if a city is home to a building in the top 50, we should have a featured list for that city's tallest buildings. I know it will be a while before we finish the current FTD, so I will just plant this idea now and see what happens when we get there.
Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 23:53, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, actually I was talking about Note C. I was hoping you would add a reference that validated the statement about the number of buildings under construction, not about the current world or country ranking. And I should add that the editor I referred to earlier removed your source because it is a blog. Thank you for the explanation about the number of references for the timeline. I just find it strange that there could ever be too many references. And about creating articles for all those lists, I am sure it can happen as OOODDD and Alaskan assassin have shown us. Whether or not the articles establish notabilty or are well referenced is another issue.
- I would also like to tell you that I feel really guilty that I, having been a member of the FTD for almost five months, have only helped to bring one list to featured status. And to make it worse, the list is not even a part of the FTD. I believe I will have more time to work on the lists in the coming weeks. I am hoping that by adding my services we can achieve the goal of one list per week. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- If you go to emporis.com they have the # of buildings currently under construction in the city. Is that a valid source?
[edit] Emporis
Have you noticed that Emporis is down? I keep on trying to get on it but it says it cannot find server. Alaskan assassin (talk) 19:45, 5 May 2008 (UTC) Yeah my computer is pretty slow right now. I think its just that to many people have been using it and my ISP server aren't big enough. Alaskan assassin (talk) 19:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm still having troubles with emporis, even though my modem is now fixed. So that might hinder my article creation some. But I proably not gonig to get to edit as much for a few days. Alaskan assassin (talk) 20:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Worcester
Yeah, this isn't going anywhere. We tried but they all seem to think location guidelines can't be overrun by usage. Try again in 6 months maybe? (WP:CCC])--Loodog (talk) 01:36, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Miami building
I appreciate very much all the work you have done to enhance the List of tallest buildings in Miami article. You have improved the article vastly and I commend you for that. I'm not an artist by any means, but I have to question the choice of placing the bank of america photo that just shows a street level vertical view that makes the building look like any other of thousands across the world. Don't you think that a frontal view of the building that shows the unique qualities of the construction should be more appropriate? The photo, although maybe a more modern higher-quality one does nothing to justify the one-of-a-kind quality that this building contributes. There aren't any other buildings with this construction anywhere that I know of. Shouldn't this be shown as the primary photo? The photo currently there doesn't express the uniqueness of the structure. I feel that only a direct frontal view is appropriate for this article. I would value your opinion on this. - Marc Averette (talk) 04:30, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Residential buildings
Do you think we should have a separate article for tallest all-residential buildings in the United States (and the World for that matter)? I feel I should be able to look up 55 East Erie, 340 on the Park and soon One Museum Park and Chicago Spire in this regard. Should we at least have a section with such a list in the regurlar toallest building articles?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 13:55, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think all-would be pretty essential because I have never read about a building that said it is the tallest partially residential building. The two titles I have heard are tallest all-residential and highest residence. I guess if you include both lists in the same article all-might not be necessary. There are not many very tall all hotel buildings that I know of. Maybe everything could just be handled by the notes in the regular tallest building list.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 21:55, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re:List of tallest building in the US
I have finished adding references to almost all entries in the US list. What else needs to be done to it in order to reach FL-status? Cheers. Trance addict - Tiesto - Above and Beyond 18:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Use of term skyscrapers for heading
Where accurate, why not use why not use the heading 'skyscrapers' for appropriate sections? The main reason for this is that when people search, they normally type 'skyscrapers' for their search term, and when the article has at least one heading with skyscrapers. As it is now, none of the city buildings lists contain the term skyscraper in a heading, this leaves them out of many searches on seach engines. Some may type buildings and this would be captured by the heading anyway. The tallest buildings list doesn't retrieve on a skyscraper search for the cities. Skyscraper is an accurate heading for that particular section for most cities with a few exceptions. The tallest buildings heading may include churches/momuments for those few exceptions. Thomas Paine1776 (talk) 00:22, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Trans National Place
Hi Raime I've noticed you've been heavily involved with the editing of the article on Trans National Place and would like to bring something up. I am a Tufts University student majoring in Civil Engineering and recently had to do a comprehensive report of the engineering aspects of the proposed TNP building in Boston. I, along with 3 other students, interviewed Mr. David Hancock of CBT Architects about the project and gathered a lot of helpful information (most of which would be far too technical for this Wikipedia entry; structural, geotechnical issues, etc), but one thing I would like to address is the expected date of completion. The project is still in the permitting phase. In fact, the existing property owned by Trans National Group is still currently being used and will not be set for demolition until permits are obtained. Excavation, bracing, and construction on the new building will not likely begin until next year (2009), and will not be complete until, at earliest, the beginning of 2013. Mr. Hancock gave us the following sequence of events:
Permitting: 1 year Demolition of existing structures: 4 to 6 months Slurry Wall, excavation, bracing: 6 to 8 months Construction: ~2 years (superstructure at a rate of about one floor per week) Glass, utilities, furnishings: 4 to 6 months Completion: 4.5 to 5 years from now (~2013-2014)
Therefore, the date of 2011 is inaccurate. The article already is tagged stating there is speculative information. Regardless of this, I believe replacing the dates of 2011 with 2013 would be more appropriate and to the benefit of readers of the article. Also this information comes from an expert, so it is credible. I do have access to the report, an associated powerpoint presentation, and a digital copy of the interview with Mr. Hancock to substantiate this if needed. I have nominated Trump International Hotel & Tower (Chicago) at WP:GAC. You might find the article interesting. I missed your banter at WP:LOTD. Voting ends on in less than six days.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:09, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your encouragement. Good luck with Tallest buildings in Chicago. I am trying to determine if the building to the left of the Wrigley Building behind the right side of the former Sun-Times Building in Image:DowntownChicagoILatNight.jpg is over 500 ft. Is it one of the currently redlinked articles?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 22:24, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Do you know anything about the space in front of River Plaza and between the Trump International Hotel & Tower (Chicago) and Wrigley Building. I am under the impression that Trump will be landscaping a park of sorts and that he has some sort of airspace rights to that land to protect the view and value of his building. I have not found any secondary sources that describe plans for this land or rights to the land and/or airspace.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 23:18, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Roanoke Building
There is some controversy at Roanoke Building on whether it is a National Register of Historic Places and/or National Historic Landmark Building. Do you know anything about this.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:38, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] term skyscrapers
The traditional definition of a skyscraper is 10 stories or higher with a steel frame, this is how Chicago is called the city of a thousand skyscrapers and also that on May 1, 1884 began construction on Chicago's "first skyscraper" at 10 stories (Home Insurance Building). The history of the skyscraper is consistent with the 10 story definition. The term skyscrapers is not inconsistent with the articles on tallest buildings, a skyscraper is a type of building. The term building also emcompasses churches and monuments so its fine for the title. It would be useful for at least one heading within the article to be 'skyscraper' since it is a very common search term and placing it in at least one heading in the article would help to capture the articles. [edit] List of tallest buildings in Chicago
Great work on the redlinks in the main list. I wonder howeveer, why the future buildings were delinked. I was just looking up the Peshtigo and curious about why it was not redlinked. Surely we expect an article for such a building. . .don't we?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:23, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] malaysia
I went up to KL this yesterday for the first time. I stood at the base of the Petronas Twin Towers and I've got to tell you, they are quite impressive. The facade has so much metal. It really is spectacular. That picture on the architecute userbox is surprisingly accurate. If you see it from the nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower, it is noteworthy. DaronDierkes (talk) 07:23, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have lots of pictures of the towers but they really didn't quite fit into my camera focus very well. The camera didn't do it justice. The pics in the article gallery are pretty good though. For Taipei, my girlfriend has been there several times and even had an apartment there for a while and she never noticed it! I don't get her sometimes. :o) DaronDierkes (talk) 03:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Engineering update
Hi Raime. I updated {{Engineering}} with additional features. GregManninLB (talk) 23:49, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
The newer design, while remaining largely the same as far as looks, will be a bit wider (210' x 120'). This will provide more rentable space. Piano didn't like the fact that widening the building design from its original slim profile would "choke" TNP by being too close to the surrounding structures. I would tend to disagree with him, having been on-site, as there is plenty of room for the building footprint (not to mention it will surpass any structure around it by at least 400 feet--sort of hard to choke if you can't even reach the neck). I sadly cannot provide a more professional "printed" source of the information, as CBT has decided to release minimal information to the media outlets; you probably noticed that since no article has been written about the project for about a year. They wouldn't even let one of my partners take a picture of the scale model to use in the report. Therefore, reconsidering what I said in the last message, I suppose it would be appropriate to wait for a more professional source to print the information (the only thing to rely on would be my "original research" which is evil by Wikipedia standards).
However, for your own curiousity... yes, the project will be built. According to David Hancock, the Mayor is very excited for the new jobs it will bring to the city and Mr. Steve Belkin wouldn't let this die easily as he wants it to be his legacy. Also, he is a widely successful entrepreneur, so he knows there must be profit in the building for him. If you like, I could send you a copy of our report to read for your own pleasure if you provide an email address. Pressuredrop16 (talk) 23:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] WP:LOTD
There goes your perfect record. I hope you will be involved in the future. List of tallest buildings in Minneapolis was selected as a WP:LOTD for one day in June and will be the LOTD during the month. Let me know before May 23rd if you have any date preferences.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:59, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't know if you are familiar with http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapbrowse-tbl/ I just created my first maps from the service this morning (yesterday by UTC time). One is at Historic Michigan Boulevard District. A better example is Image:Rush Street via tiger.census.gov.gif, which is at a scale to show street detail. The maps just need latitude and longitude and then scaling parameter. I think all buildings should have maps. I am going to add one to each of my two current WP:GACs (Trump International Hotel & Tower (Chicago) and Roanoke Building) by the weekend. I think WP:SKY, WP:NRHP and WP:WPARCH should probably get involved because we would need to goose some infobox templates to make room for maps. What do you think?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:57, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- What are the most common infoboxes for WP:SKY?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:41, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] To get to featured status
Raime, since you are always the one that does the final changes to lists and then nominates them, I was hoping you could look over List of tallest buildings in Atlanta and List of tallest buildings in the United States. I would like you to tell me what other things need to be done before they can be brought to featured list candidacy. I realize that many articles still need to be created for Atlanta, but I was thinking just along the lines of the list itself. And, can you think of a better title for the to-be-created article Equitable Building (Atlanta 1892) (there is already an article titled Equitable Building (Atlanta))? As for the US list, can you have a look over the timeline I created. See the talk page about concerns I have over the accuracy. I would like to get at least one of these lists nominated before the end of the month. Thanks. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 21:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your work on improving the Atlanta list. As for the United States list, why would non-building structures be included? I know that a few others lists have them, but this is for a country and not a city. Also, I think a note about non-building free-standing structures should be added to Wikipedia:WikiProject Skyscrapers/Tallest building lists just to ensure all lists that include such structures follow the same format/guidelines. Thanks again. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 01:08, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- I agree with including free-standing, non-building structures in the lists and not giving them a rank. Since these structures are usually notable and stand out in their respective skylines, they should be included. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Greetings, Raime. This news obviously affects the potential rankings. As the ranking specialist, would you care to modify the "tallest proposed" table and the separate article on Trans National Place appropriately? Very best, Hertz1888 (talk) 09:03, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 400 East Randolph
This week I have been trying to cleanup Lakeshore East. I am a bit confused on a building that I think has existed in the development for a long time. Not only am I unable to find a WP article for 400 East Randolph Street Condominiums (http://www.habitatcondominiums.com/ode/about.aspx or http://www.chicagoarchitecture.info/Building/1229/400_East_Randolph.php), but also I can not find an emporis page. I must be confused on its name or something.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:31, 30 May 2008 (UTC) It was Outer Drive East.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 08:11, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Arlington County
Several weeks ago I asked you about the tallest buildings in Raleigh. I've put that list on hold because the guy who was going to take pictures for me has vanished from WP. Anyway, I'm thinking about creating a list for the tallest buildings in Arlington County, Virginia because I live in D.C. and I can take the pictures myself. My question is do you think I should create an article for buildings in the county or create separate lists for the various urban villages (Arlington County doesn't contain any incorporated towns). I don't know if you're familiar with the area, but Arlington County is very small and has pockets of high-rises along metro stops. You can see some of the skylines or portions thereof in the following pix: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. APK yada yada 08:42, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think it would be best to start by creating a List of tallest buildings in Rosslyn, Virginia, as that community seems to have a sufficienly large number of high-rises to have its own tallest building list. I would then think that any other community containing a significant amount of high-rises (at least 15) should have a separate tallest building list, and then one main List of tallest buildings in Arlington County, Virginia should be created to contain buildings from all of the communities. Do you think that any communiity besides Rosslyn could constitute its own tallest building list? Perhaps only two are needed: List of tallest buildings in Rosslyn, Virginia and List of tallest buildings in Arlington County, Virginia, of which the latter would contain all of the buildings listed in the former (similar to how state lists such as List of tallest buildings in Michigan contain all of the buildings listed in city lists such as List of tallest buildings in Detroit). What do you think? Cheers, Rai•me 03:44, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- That's probably the best solution, an article for Rosslyn and one for the county. I'll have to ride out to Ballston, Clarendon, and Courthouse to check out the number of buildings to see if any of them warrant a separate list. Crystal City contains numerous high-rises, but they're all basically the same height. (much like D.C., except of course the buildings in D.C. are 15ish stories max) Thanks for your help! [edit] List of tallest buildings and structures in London
What do you think about nominating List of tallest buildings and structures in London to be delisted? It currently has only 6 references and no timeline of tallest buildings. Alaskan assassin (talk) 00:10, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- I have nominated it. Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/List of tallest buildings and structures in London. Also, what about putting List of tallest buildings and structures in Croydon up for deletion, scine it's part of London? Alaskan assassin (talk) 02:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] List of tallest buildings in Chicago
Can you explain definitional differences that would cause a building to be the world's tallest according to List of tallest buildings in Chicago and never be listed on the timeline of U.S. tallest.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- I started to add a paragraph to the WP:LEAD, but am not sure what to say now.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:57, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Emporis/SSP
Hey, just an FYI, but Emporis almost always tends to be wrong and Skyscraperpage is honestly not much of a reliable source. Just look at the dates they have for say Met 3, which says it'll be completed in 2009 and it hasn't even broken ground. I know it's hard to find reliable sources sometime, but I think information on these pages should be taken with a grain of salt. :) --Comayagua99 (talk) 18:23, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Equitable Building renamed
I thought you should know that Equitable Building (Atlanta 1892) was moved shortly after being created (on 31 May) to Equitable Building (Atlanta, Georgia) on the basis that it is a "better dab." Should we request for the page to be moved back? So now we have Equitable Building (Atlanta) and Equitable Building (Atlanta, Georgia), which to me seems to be a worse disambiguation. The original title was clearly better and more discerning between which building/article was which. What are your thoughts? Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 22:57, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- When I request the move at Wikipedia:Requested moves, should I treat it as controversial or uncontroversial? I am assuming it is uncontroversial due to our discussion (even though it is rather short) and the fact that another article has such a similar title. But, I am unsure whether other people will see it as controversial or not. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 03:29, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
-
- I am curious to know how you moved that article over a redirect? I thought that only administrators could do that. I always use WP:RM because I do not know any other way to do it. Do you have some administrator "powers" or is there something that I do not know? Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 01:06, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

- New GA Review Process - Review Subpages
In case you haven't noticed, we initiated a new process for GA Reviews at the end of last month. The {{GA nominee}} template was modified to direct new reviews initiated on an article to begin on a subpage of article talkspace (e.g. [[Talk:Article/GA#]], where '#' is the current number of GA reviews conducted for the article, incremented automatically, starting with 1). The primary reason for this change is to address some concerns made by several Wikipedians that previous GA reviews are not easily accessible in archives, the way that featured article reviews and peer reviews are, since the review is conducted on the article's talkspace, instead of in a subpage of the featured article space or peer review space. The reason we opted to move GA reviews to article talkspace (instead of GA space) is to better maintain the personal relationship between editor(s) and reviewer(s) by keeping reviews done in an area where editors can easily access it. Nonetheless, we still desired to have better archiving and maintenance of past reviews, so that GA ultimately becomes more accountable.
When an article is nominated, the nominator adds the template using a substitution, by adding {{subst:GAN|subtopic=<name of subtopic for article at GAN>}}, as well as lists the article (as usual) at WP:GAN in the appropriate category.
When a reviewer initiates a review of an article, all that needs to be done is to read the template on the article's {{GA nominee}} template on its talk page, and click on the link to start the review. When the reviewer clicks on that link, they will also see some instructions on how to start a review of a GAN. For new reviewers, there's also a link to the Good Article criteria, as well as to the Wikipedia:Reviewing good articles page and the mentors list. Once an article is reviewed, the GA review page should be transcluded onto the main article talk page, by adding {{Talk:Article/GA#}} to the bottom of the talk page. This is to ensure maintain the transparency of the GA process, as well as to make editors of the article in question aware that the review is taking place. When an article is either passed or failed, there's really nothing different to do in the process, although reviewers are encouraged to utilize the {{ArticleHistory}} template, linking to the GA review subpage with the 'action#link' parameter.
- Did You Know...
- ... that there are slightly more than twice as many Good Articles (4,266) as there are Featured Articles?
- ... that Giggy has some really neat and useful tools to assist reviewers in conducting their reviews?
- ... that there are ten experienced reviewers listed on the GA mentors list that can offer assistance or a second opinion in reviewing articles?
- From the Editors
A GA working party has initiated discussion on ways to improve the Good Article project and processes. The goal of the working party is to come up with suggestions for improvement based on recent issues and concerns raised in the past, primarily in the wake of the Great Green Dot Debate of May 2008. [edit] Progress of FTD
I will be getting out of school soon (Thursday, 5:30 pm) so which list should we work on? I say we target the BIG THREE skylines (that is, NYC, Chicago, HK), a goal that fell off the radar. How should we write the intro for those cities? Each of them has a rich history of skyscrapers and if we follow the format, it might get a bit too long. And also, where should we go next when the US cities are done? Canada and China seem like good places. See you in a couple of days. Cheers.
