[edit] "Approximately 3 out of 77"?

I don't have access to the reference of this quote, but it sounds strange. Do you perhaps mean that the authors of that reference examined 77 specimens, and found that 3 of them had the spine irregularity? In that case, a better phrasing would be "approximately 4% of fish have only five spines." --Zvika (talk) 08:37, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I know, it sounds strange. The author examined more than 77 specimens, so why he used this number is odd. I will change it to 4% anyway Kare Kare (talk) 02:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Maybe he got 30 in 770 tests, so it obviously broke down to 3/77? Or 9 in 231? etc. etc. Daniel 08:20, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
In any case, 4% sounds better than odds as strange as "3 out of 77". Kare Kare (talk) 10:44, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Indeed, no doubt about that point. Daniel 02:22, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
